At Riverside convention Episcopalians say no to ban on gay bishops

RIVERSIDE - In a move that presaged yet another battle over homosexuality at a national Episcopal Church meeting, delegates to the Los Angeles Diocese's convention voted overwhelmingly Saturday to support lifting a moratorium on consecrating bishops who are in same-sex relationships.

The church instituted the moratorium in 2006 in an attempt to appease theological conservatives who were upset over the 2003 consecration of the openly gay V. Gene Robinson as bishop of New Hampshire ...

On Wednesday, those breakaway dioceses and other traditionalists announced the formation of a North American Anglican province, or regional grouping, to rival the 2.4-million-member Episcopal Church.

On Saturday, the Riverside Convention Center was swept by a sea of green cards -- displayed for 'yes' -- in a vote on a resolution that calls for reversing the moratorium ...

2. In the future, churches may boast about being one of the first to
adopt a 'godly' view of homosexuality. Good for them.

3. Many of them already do
Many preachers and churches tout their stance against homosexuality as their #1 credential for Godliness and use it as their primary tool to both frighten people and separate them from their money. We can only hope that in the future, those who still adhere to religion will have divorced themselves from this kind of whackitude.
