For the Christians on this forum to know and remember

First, I have an abiding admiration in your strength and your commitment. There is little doubt that you are an enduring bunch to abide the hostility that is directed your way. I recall a line from FDR that sums you and I up pretty well. "I am a Christian and I am a Democrat." It is magnificent in its' simplicity and directness. There are good and bad representatives of every sector, regardless of their beliefs. That includes Christians, Atheists, Agnostics, and whomever. This truth that we Christians can find refuge in an otherwise hostile world is that we carry Christ in our hearts. The thing that makes me admire each of you so much is that you Christian Democrats do not wear Christ on your sleeves. I hope we continue to reach out to Christians all over the political spectrum. We are the party of inclusion and you are very important to the Democratic Party. Our detractors want to alienate you for reasons known only to them. But, I want you to remember that you have a bonding friendship with old Jack. When you need a friend, you know where you can turn in the quietness of any moment. I don't visit here often for the obvious reasons. ;-) Yet, I want you to know how much I appreciate your faith and your choice of political party affiliation. Best to you always.

I worked on my FIL and his dad over the weekend to vote for Obama. Does that count? ;) (They're serious righwingers and thinking of voting for Huckabee. I did what I could to tell them the truth about Obama.)
