TVC Fundies release anti-liberal and anti-gay comic books (dial-up warning)
Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 06:08 PM by IanDB1
Traditional Values Coaltion (of fundie bigots) Introduces New Comic Book Series To Expose Liberal Lunacy

March 8, 2007 – The Traditional Values Coalition is introducing a new way of communicating our message through the Internet today: Comic Books that expose liberal and homosexual whacko politics.

These Comics will be in a graphic format for easy distribution via email and for posting on conservative and Christian blogs. “We think these Comics will be an effective way of lampooning the lunacy of liberals and their homosexual allies in our culture,” said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. “Liberals use humor effectively in the media to ridicule traditional values. It’s time to turn the tables on them.”

The first Comic is on the crazy lobby reform legislation being proposed in Congress. Read and distribute “Lobby Reform Lunacy” far and wide! (Please provide a link back to our web site if you post this on your blog or web site.)

“There’s more to come. This is only the opening salvo against whacko liberalism,” said Lafferty.

1. Ah, ye cement-hearted fool fundies. Some of your daughters and
sons will realize that they are lesbians or gay males and would benefit from an environment that is as free of hate and discrimination and ridicule as humanly possible.

Instead you place in their hands propaganda for self-loathing and distrust and dismissal of others.

For shame.

2. My cat drew better comics crapping in the litter box, but the punchlines didn't stink as much. n/t

5. Just go to www.traditionalvalues.org
I did, and saw the cartoon. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being best, it is a 1 on humor. Cartoons are supposed to be funny.

8. You're right
Although I'd give it a 0 for humor. It scores pretty high on the irony scale though, because the people who are fighting tooth and nail to curtail everybody else's' freedoms are now whining about the alleged attempts of "liberals" to curtail other peoples' freedoms. :eyes:

9. I haven't even formed an opinion about the substance of the issue,
But the humorlessness of the cartoon is just . . . lame. They've got some work cut out for them if they want to compete with Tom Tomorrow.

6. A Family Business (WaPo: May 2004)
By Hanna Rosin
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, May 20, 2004; Page C01

... The traditional values crusade as a family business makes for an unusual life. The reality of it is, Lafferty spends a lot of time looking with her dad at pictures of semi-naked men. Sheldon never misses an issue of the Washington Blade, the area's weekly gay newspaper. ("Was that in last week's issue or this week's?" he asks, looking for a particular ad for a group that "meets frequently to socialize," with "refreshments, music and videos." "You know what that means," he says. "Group sex. Just sex, sex, sex.") ...

10. It's comically bad
It's like a blog entry, with someone drawing a couple of only vaguely associated pictures next to it. So when the text complains about TVC having to 'jump through hoops', they have a drawing of - a person holding a hoop, and another person jumping through it! Hilarious, eh? And it helps the meaning of the text so much, too (if you're someone who doesn't know what a hoop looks like, that is; if you do know, then you're probably distracted by it, since you're left wondering if it isn't meant to be the cliched metaphor after all, but a real hoop that's somehow involved).

I can't think who this is possibly aimed at. Anyone who's going to read the text about "redress of grievances" isn't going to start to read it when it says "Hi, I'm the letter 't' in the alphabet. I stand for truth - and it's my job to explain what liberals in Congress are doing about 'lobby reform'."

As for the message - it's a whine from TVC saying it's their constitutional right to take money from any source, not declare it, but pretend that they are just a bunch of 'concerned citizens' who aren't being funded by anyone, and to organise 'astroturf' campaigns.
