1. Are you sure that's Cannabis?
Doesn't look right to me, and I've seen a lot of Cannabis.

2. Yeah, too few leaves, fringe starts too late. So I've heard...
Ever notice how a Japanese Maple looks like a big 'ole red pot bush?

4. That would be a funny idea if it they picked a japanese maple that looked more authentic.
Start a movement. Anyone opposed to marijuana criminalization should carry bags of green Japanese Maple leaves as a form of civil-disobedience.

Make state law-enforcement foot the bill to test what is and isn't weed. When the bureaucracy implodes under the weight, they might take another look at legislation.

5. Won't work like that.
They will criminalize Japanese Maple first.

6. Still be worth it.
Pot laws are unenforceable enough. Imagine trying to ban a harmless shrub that is currently growing in many American yards. I don't think they could pull it off.

Too many upper-middle-class white Americans that have it growing somewhere on one of their properties, and wouldn't tolerate the government intrusion in to their landscaping. ...and when you upset the upper-classes, you lose.

Would be somewhat entertaining to watch it unfold.

I know I'm dreaming, but still...

I do get your point though.

7. I may have picked a couple leaves off the bottom to make it fit.
But that is really going to bite if it is not the real thing.

8. If they picked a slightly more pot looking leaf, even if inauthentic, I'd think it was cool.
If you google image search for Japanese Maple, you will find a lot of images that look more like pot than this.

If you take one of the green ones that looks really close, that would be pretty cool. Legal, and yet, provocative.

And by cool I mean, protective of our rights, and advocacy of that.

9. I'll have to find a leaf that looks more like pot and then see if I can dry it or buy it
The funny thing is at Etsy several people have Favorited it so they must think it at least looks like the real thing.

For people like me who are not real pot smokers we can't tell the difference and it is just a statement. Maybe I should wear mine around a bit and see what kind of reaction I get.

10. Personally, I think the red leaf looks cooler and even if
a pot leaf (or a Japanese maple leaf) were spray-painted gold and then encased in the glass (or whatever it is encased in) it would be a kick-ass pendant that would go with everything.
