Need to find a rebuilt or used auto transmission with low miles
to fit '97 Dodge Caravan, 3.0 liter, 6 cylinder in Dallas area.

those tranny are infamous for bad torque converters. what is your tranny doing?

5. Doing? Nothing. It died in the center lane of the freeway.
Maybe I should have got out and let some 18 wheeler plow it flat instead of having it fixed.

6. It could easily be the torque converter
Lots cheaper than a new tranny, you can likely get one off the shelf at a wrecking yard, dunno what they cost but they do guarantee it'll work. Then check out the price from your local mechanic to change just the torque converter, at the flat rate manual hour estimate.
If it does nothing in any of the gears or reverse, it is most likely the torque converter.

Are you a member of the DFW Freecycle?
I am sure if you post this request on there, that someone will find one.
Oh...they also like sob stories on this freecycle.
If you don't have a pathetic enough story you don't get their stuff that people give away. Some actually make you write essays that they will review and then make a decision.
I dropped my membership in it because I wasn't in the mood for that drama, but I am certain if you tell a story (who cares if you make it up), then someone can help you find what you need.
