Does anyone here use Etsy?
x-posting from the Lounge.

I was wondering if anyone in the Marketplace group used Etsy to sell online? I'm looking for opinions on using it for selling.

2. I use Etsy
I like it, and I've been using it for almost a year. It's inexpensive to list (20 cents) and the percentage of the sale is reasonable. The site is easy to use. When pricing items, remember to figure in the cost of your sales tax (if applicable to your state, because Etsy doesn't figure this in) plus the percentages that Etsy and Paypal (if you use it) will take for their services.

3. I think Etsy is great but I haven't tried any other selling sites.
It takes a while to learn, a lot longer than I expected and there is still a wealth of information out there to peruse. There are many people here who sell on Ebay. I'm sure they will chime in when they get here in time.

It is relatively easy to use also. And they have forums where you can ask questions. I like having my own "shop".

Can't hurt to give it a try.

4. I love my Etsy shop.
This time of year it's a big chunk of my (little) income. Etsy is huge and competitive, especially for jewelery and bath and beauty products, so you need to take really good photos or you'll be buried. It's worth spending some time studying the site's aesthetics. Also, if you're not doing something else to get your shop noticed, you will probably be relisting items to bring them up to the top of their internal search engine, so you might want to figure that into your price as well.
