Venture capital needed

I am a private investor with an account at a futures trading exchange (www.intrade.com) and have entered into positions on margin. However, the exchange has drastically raised margin requirements this month requiring the posting of extra margin in the approximate amount of $700,000. I would like to keep my positions in the account for another month or two and therefore I needs to deposit additional margin in order to prevent the liquidation of my positions in order to make the margin call. There is no basis in terms of market volatility or any other reason that I can think of for the drastic increase in margin requirements, and it is reasonable to expect that market volatility will actually be less in October than it was in September.

The margin lent to me would be fully secured (via confession of judgment executed by myself) by the equity of over $240,000 in my margin account.

I noticed an ad today in USA Today that advertised venture capital available. Apparently they want to give money to complete strangers too. And I asked my attorney if he knew anyone like that, he said he did and would contact them this weekend.

I can only hope this is a bit tongue-in-cheek but if it is not, I would think that anyone with true "venture capital" is looking for an investment with the potential for solid returns, not to bail out an individual investor who finds himself up against a margin call. If you were that savvy of an investor and had an idea worth investing in, it is doubtful you would be having such a difficult time with a Regulation T call.

Sorry for your situation, but i think you will find DU a tad unsympathetic.

11. Intrade is not subject to Reg. T

Being located in Ireland, Intrade is not subject to Regulation T and sets its own margin rates. It saw fit to lend me the $700,000 margin last month but the margin level went from 25% to 100% in October in what I believe a rather arbitrary and unwarranted manner.

I have already received an offer from someone who would charge 5% per month (not from a DU member) but I'd like to wait for a better offer. Factoring companies usually charge 1 1/2 percent per month, but for something like this I realize I probably would need to pay a higher rate.
