Those in LA - This Saturday
And who like political/topical comedy, this looks interesting. The who is Wil Wheaton of Star Trek, Slashdot and blogosphere fame.

Notice: I'm in no way affiliated with this. There is a cost, but it looks to be in line with most live comedy events.

If you want to see some funny on Saturday, I'm going to be in a show at the ACME Comedy Theater called ACME This Week.
Unlike the other shows we do at ACME, where we write and rehearse for two months, this has been an entirely new show every week, which makes it really fun, really terrifying, always different, and a little hit-and-miss (though it's been way more hit than miss.)
I don't have time to write and rehearse an entirely new show every week, but I've been doing the ACME World News every week, which has given me a chance to write and perform stuff like Weekend Update (when it was funny) and The Daily Show. For example, from a couple of weeks ago:

American casualties in Iraq climbed to 2705 this week, as sectarian violence that is totally not a civil war continued to spread across the country.
Speaking to CNN's Wolf Blitzer, President Bush said "I like to tell people when the final history is written on Iraq, it will look like just a comma . . ."
Democratic lawmakers in Congress blasted the president's assessment of the war, pointing out that "just a comma," is an inappropriate metaphor for Iraq, which is more of a big fat question mark. Senator Ted Kennedy then argued it was more of an umlaut, Senator Graham said it seemed like more of an ampersand, and Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska said "look at me I'm made of bacon!"

It loses something if you can't hear my totally awesome Ted Stevens "crazy voice," but you get the idea, right? Maybe if you jam some raw bacon into your shorts, it will help boost the funny.

Anyway, the show was originally scheduled to run for the rest of this month and most of next month, but too many performers have had to drop out due to the show's grueling schedule, and our company director has decided to end the run tomorrow night.

So if you're in Los Angeles, and you want to see me launch a hairball of comedy right onto the rug in the hallway, so you'll step on it in the middle of the night and squish it between your toes when all you wanted to do was go to the bathroom, here's your chance.
As an added bonus, we have a real live celebrity host this week: Alex Borstein, who you may know from MADtv and Family Guy, is an ACME alumnus, and will be in the show this week.

I added this to Upcoming and Eventful, and here's info in easy-to-cut-n-paste-o-vision:

What: ACME This Week
Where: ACME Comedy Theater 135 N. La Brea, Hollywood, CA
When: Saturday, October 21, 2006. 8pm
Cost: $15

I know the notice is short, and I know that 98% of you who are reading this are not close enough to LA to come to the show, but would you maybe help spread the word a little bit? I'd like to do this show for as close to a full house as possible, because it's the last one, and it's much more fun that way.
