"Atlas Shrugged" Hubby wants to see it. I read reviews that said it was a terribly made movie,
terrible script, etc. Then I also read that Rush Limbaugh and others of his type loved it - which means that I would hate it :)

It is not in most theaters around my town - which surprises me.

Has anybody actually seen it and what did you think of it?

1. I was listening to Ed Schultz when Mike Papantonio was filling in -
he was hilarious in his panning of the movie - started calling Paul Ryan "Paul Rand". Was asking how the party of God could be supportive of someone who has no time for altruism...

Personally I wouldn't go see it if you paid me....

2. Buy a ticket to another movie and then just walk into Atlas Shrugged.
That way, the theater owner gets paid, but the assholes who made Atlas Shrugged do not.

The characters are more believable.

7. Jesus didn't say that, but Je$u$ did!
The same Je$u$ who bestows the Holy $pirit of the Invi$ible Hand on the Free Market...

5. As a critic, I can appreciate the absence of quality in art.

Sort of a John Waters thing. About 20 years ago, I grungingly went to see "Sunset Boulevard" on Broadway (Andrew Lloyd Weber). It so sucked but I loved it for that reason. It was the worst thing I've ever seen. I laughed my way through all four acts. Two audience members in the row in back of me were so aggravated by my response that they rose to a standing ovation at the end and yelled "Bravo!" I was in hysterics by then, gasping through guffaws and tears to shoot me.

So, yeah, go.

6. "Atlas Shagged" is a real RAZZIE contender.
I went to see it. Only a dozen folks in the theater, even with churches giving away free tickets here in Los Angeles. It's one of the most unintentionally funniest films I've ever seen. Think of the worst TV series ever done, "Supertrain" given the cheapo big screen treatment. Think SCTV. That will give you a good idea of how BAD this movie is. I couldn't stop laughing at it. It IS every bit the stupid, banal, asinine fourth rate inelegantly mounted piece of trash you think it will be.

What was funnier was watching the Randroids react. Holding their beloved bibles and drooling all the time. Weeping like they were just leaving church.

I just couldn't stop laughing! I can't wait for Part 2!

9. Weird how the Bible-thumbers have embraced the book. It's not religious, the
book is "don't pay taxes for the lazy masses', but it's not religious at all.

10. Rynd (sp) did not believe in any religion or spirituality. Does not make sense that Christianity
has embraced it. I think they must not know the history of the author, and they are getting something entirely different out of the book than what she meant.

11. I can't believe that the ultra-religious haven't lashed out at Rand
her being an atheist and all. Show's how "it's all about me" is the larger right-wing value.

8. That money you would spend on the movie?
Send it to help tornado victims.
Think of it as altruist protest against the movie makers.
Double win.

13. Rotten Tomatoes critic's rating is 13%

But viewers who actually paid to see it, their rating is at 83%. Conservatives can't admit a mistake even when it comes to seeing a shitty movie.

14. 13% is actually a huge increase...
...it was at 6% for a long time.
