He broke up the Small Faces in late '68 to form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton. The other three little Faces joined up with the taller Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood and became The Faces.

Sorta funny story. When I was in college in the early 70's, there was a guy in the next room who, every friggen' Friday/Saturday night, would tie one on and, invariably, his evening would end with 2-3 repeats of "I Don't Need No Doctor" cranked up to 11-1/2. He'd be jumping and thrashing around crashing into stuff. One night he bounced particularly hard into the concrete wall of his room and broke his arm. Turns out, he did need a doctor....

5. Performance: Rocking The Fillmore...

...in the pantheon of classic live albums like "Frampton Comes Alive," Skynyrd's "One More From The Road," the Allmans' "Fillmore East," this one is right in there.

Marriott's vocals on "I Walk On Gilded Splinters" still give me chills to this day.

R.I.P., Steve...you were the best.

8. Oh yeah, absolutely...

...in the years that followed, the Dead released "official" CDs from that edition of the band that might have rocketed right past "Skull & Roses" (like "Three From The Vault"...that is basically a turbo-charged, 2-CD "Skull & Roses"), but in its time...and to this very day...it is an album that belongs in EVERY serious music lover's collection. It is perfect from front to back.

...I have both the "Rocking The Cradle Egypt 1978" and "Road Trips Vol. 1 No. 4 From Egypt With Love" CDs...I also very clearly remember Rolling Stone's coverage of the trip at the time.

My favorite Dead years were 1969-70 and the early Godchaux period (although I was never a fan of Donna)...by the time they switched to Arista and Brent came on board, they were under pressure to have a "hit," so I feel the Warners and Grateful Dead Label albums / CDs still reign supreme.

12. Hafta agree...I'm a 70's Deadhead, too.

Introduced to them at Boston Garden in 1971 with that 'Wall of Sound' system....after that show, I knew this was a band I'd be listening to for the long haul...that Alabama Getaway studio album was my 'wtf is this?" moment. Still, there was no band I'd rather hear play live.....at any point in their journey.
