Adele, Lady Gaga and more Unconventional Pop Stars

Adele is has the country’s bestselling album for the second week in a row and Lady Gaga is topping Billboard’s singles chart. As Britney Spears and Rihanna lag, is the reign of the conventional pop princess over?

There is almost nothing about Adele’s single “Rolling in the Deep” or its accompanying video that would suggest the makings of a pop behemoth.

For one, the song’s retro, bluesy sound is a far cry from most of today’s club music inspired R&B from Rihanna and Bruno Mars.

2. Ugh please don't call an artificial eccentric unconventional.
She is not unconventional, she is purely manufactured and quite normal for today's faux artists.

5. Me too.
I noticed that Starbucks is selling her new CD. I asked the cashier (she is in her early twenties) if she had listened to it. She responded that she had never heard of her. Then she asked me if it is "easy listening". Perhaps that is because I am in my mid-sixties. I was not sure how to respond.

4. Adele?
This is the first I've heard of this person. Guess I'm not up on new music.

7. check youtube , also i think her voice when talking is really soft
a big contrast to her voice when singing.

i'm surprised she is selling a lot because i don't hear much about her on big media. i mostly heard her from indie music stations .

6. There is nothing unconventional about GaGa,
She is nothing more than a rip off of folks like Madonna, Lennox and Lauper.

Nothing unconventional, nothing original.
