CBS Cancels Production On Sheen’s ‘Two And A Half Men’ For Remainder Of Season

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

CBS has pulled the plug on “Two and a Half Men”… for now.

Just hours after Charlie Sheen went on a radio rampage, blasting his bosses at the television show, CBS issued a statement on behalf of the network and “…Men’s” production company, announcing they were pulling the show from production of new episodes.

“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the remainder of the season,” CBS said in a statement late Thursday night.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Sheen called into a nationally syndicated radio show on Thursday and unleashed a shocking rant in which he attacked Alcoholics Anonymous and his hit CBS show.

“I was told if I went on the attack, they would cancel the show and all that and so I’m just sort of seeing if they’re telling the truth or not,” Charlie claimed to host Alex Jones in an interview for his radio show, “The Alex Jones Show,” on Thursday, referring to his CBS bosses.

30. I feel the same. I stopped watching the show a couple of years ago. The kid stopped
being cute a long time ago. He simply became annoying, and makes me wish someone would slap him.

33. True. "Jake" is not that funny anymore
but "Berta" and especially "Alan" are still a hoot. Too bad for them, but at least Jon Cryer has a good shot at coming out of this well.

forcing him to wear a porcelain appliance--that is about all I can see now. I keep looking at his receding facial musculature, which is fairly obvious. He really isn't very good looking any more and seems just a tragic caricature of his character.

I'm sad for his family, especially his father, Martin.

venture that the supporting cast can hold the show up without Charlie, especially if the show centered around Alan or, even better, Berta, played by Conchata Ferrell.

38. I always thought the show was a vehicle specifically for Carlos Estevez
Charlie Harper is basically a PG-version of the real life Mr. Estevez. Witness what happened to 8 Simple Rules after John Ritter's death. The show tried to continue with James Garner and (God help us) David Spade, but with no John Ritter, the show's premise was lost. What Estevez has done in the last few days is inexcusable. However, he also knows that there is no 2 and a Half Men without him. As sophmoric as its humor is, what attracted audiences to the show was the chemistry between Estevez and Jon Cryer. TV history is littered with hit TV shows who continued without key cast members and wound up losing audience. Without Carlos, 2 and a Half Men would be like the post-Suzanne Somers Three's Company.

5. MSNBC had a 'Breaking News' comment regarding Sheen
Who the hells cares?
News about TV and movie personalities and calling it Breaking News is a bunch of BS.
Any thing regarding Lohan, Spears, Sheen, etc IS NOT important NEWS!
The news channels should leave those stories for HLN's entertainment show!

Tossing your top ten show overboard because the lead character is playing himself is rather stupid.

18. There's much more at stake here than money or ratings.
I'm reminded of Sunset Boulevard - the funniest line in that film is when William Holden is chauffering Gloria Swanson through Paramount's studio gates, and she stops to renew the acquaintance of a security guard there who she knew when she was the biggest star in Hollywood. She takes a drag on her cigarette, look around at the studio, and mutters, "if it weren't for me, there wouldn't even BE a Paramount!" And she means it. I'm laughing about it even now, just thinking about it. That's where we are ATM, IMO.

29. Money is part of the equation, but this isn't Goldman Sachs we're talking about.
There are creative egos being publicly attacked here by leading personalities.

If Charlie hits the unemployment line, it won't be because he makes too much, will it?

15. Charlie Sheen follows up Alex Jones show call with rant on TMZ
Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 09:44 PM by pokerfan
CBS two and a half men actor Charlie Sheen made the news today, this time calling into the Alex Jones show with some choice words about Alcoholics Anonymous, his women, and his boss. TMZ was able to track him down in the Bahamas where Charlie Sheen had more damage to inflict with his mouth.

“I violently hate Chaim Levine…That piece of s**t took money out of my pocket, my family's pocket, and, most importantly, my second family -- my crew's pocket." Charlie Sheen told TMZ.

Wow. Most people would get fired or sanctioned on the spot by their bosses for minor variations of this. The two and a half men actor is obviously displeased about being on hiatus.

26. I think part of his acting out is his jealousy of Emilio
In 2009, Emilio filmed a movie in Spain starring Martin Sheen, called "The Way." It's about the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage & it's getting very very good reviews & press. So Charlie, feeling ignored, starts acting out even more. What a baby!

34. I Now Know Who The Half Man Is On The Show...........
and it ain't Jake.

I really think that the show could hold its own without Sheen. Alan(John Cryer) is really a talent on the show. The rest of the ensemble isn't too bad either. I wonder if they can come up with a decent way of writing Charlie out of the show. Perhaps he runs away with some lady and he goes off on a world tour and they only get postcards from him from time to time.

I would really hate to see the other talented actors on the show suffer because of Sheen.

Dropping the show could really send Sheen on a bender now. Someone should really keep watch on him because he might really hurt himself this time.

Well, I guess that CBS finally gave in. I'll see what happens in the future for the show, which is still a ratings winner regularly.
