Opera on the life of Anna Nicole Smith
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12503461

I don't share the contempt many feel for her. I have contempt for the "entertainment" industy.
I think she is a true tragic figure. She bought the american dream: if she could make her breasts large enough she would make history. The commentator says: "She wanted to take a bite out of the American dream, and it bit back".

Whether or not appropriate for an opera, no opinion. I don't do opera.

1. Finest opera I ever saw was "Quadrophenia". . .

I also have great appreciation for "What's Opera, Doc?"

Haven't any opinion on Anna Nicole Smith.

2. she's a great subject for Opera....
of course, lots of staid old fucks will claim otherwise, but the moment I heard of this I thought 'what a good idea'. The story has it all. Including a built in diva at the center of it. I'd love to see this.

3. As much as I despise our "celebrity news" culture, I gotta say...
her story has all the drama, glitz, and tragedy that high opera requires. That being said, it would be a cold day in the Bad Place before I'd drop $100 to see it.
