Monsters Inc. question--the trash compactor scene

I remember the first time I saw this movie, that the scene where Sully is freaking out because he thinks Boo is going through the trash compactor was from another movie where a father-to-be is watching the birth of his child. I knew the name of the movie back then. Now, as the movie is on, I can't remember the original film being alluded to. Can't find it on a google search. Anyone help me out? Would be good for the film class I teach in a month.
