Ultimate '80s: Albums........
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 02:13 PM by marmar
What's the best?

....... or some other essential '80s album.

As a child of the 1980s, PURPLE RAIN is the soundtrack of my coming-of-age life.

Opened the door between commercial and underground hard rock. I described it as "rock's answer to Thriller."

Blew that door off his hinges.

6. Master changed everything.
These days everyone will tell you they were into it at the time, but as someone who already dug Metallica I can safely say that's bullshit. No one wanted to hear this stuff at the time unless you were already into thrash. Now, everyone loves it and you hear Battery on the radio. :)

2. Prince has always been cool to me.
I listen to Black Metal and Noise and Punk and Doom/Stoner/Sludge, but I've always liked Prince, and I played the hell out of Purple Rain. I was DJing at the time and had to buy a lot of crap I didn't like, but this wasn't one I minded buying.

I still like him!

4. Yep, but really late in the year, so I count it as an '80s album.
