I'm kinda pissed that the IFC channel is now having advertising
during their shows!!! Just started doing this in the last few days    I remember when AMC used to be commercial free, now they are the worst for commercials. Movies that used to take 2 hours are now 2.5 hours on AMC..... D*mn.

1. IFC used to be one of my favorite channels...
until they began experimenting with the on-screen banners and the "enhanced" logo. They started with the block of ridiculously small and wordy text surrounding their logo, advertising some must-see program that was still like a month away. Next they changed to animated flyouts from the logo every few minutes, 24/7. When they started adding the popup banners in mid-program, that was the end for me.

I told them that because of this I had removed IFC from any favorites lists, never to be accessed again, along with the ever increasing list of other junk channels that have just become unwatchable. Their response was a canned "thank you for watching IFC". I have been true to my word, and consequently I was not aware that they have added advertising as you say.

There must be some compelling motivation for so many channels to add the banners, animated snipes, popups, and distracting logos. I wonder if they know or care that at least some viewers just stop watching.

2. if you have Roku, there is a free private channel w/ classic films called Pub-D-Hub (no ads!)

-snip- "The channel is FREE and features several classic films, tv shows, and cartoons that are considered to be in the public domain. Movies are categorized by genre and several movies have trailers (mostly Horror/SciFi movies right now) that can be played through the detail/springboard screen in addition to the movie itself. When a trailer is available for a movie, a "play trailer" button will appear."

-snip- "Please check out PUB-D-HUB. The code is ZFJB5."

3. Sent them an email
Complaining about the apparent competition to see who could squeeze the most ad spots into the length of one movie. Also noted that the way they are headed, can it be long before badly applied patches start making movie characters say "Forget You!" and "I don't give a spit" to appease the christianazis. Just for the heck of it, also gave them hell for taking "Samurai Saturday" off.

4. I remember the "good old days" of American Movie Classics and host Bob Dorian

It was a sad day when I tuned in and saw that "American Movie Classics" had become "AMC" and had resorting to showing heavily censored, heavily butchered, commercial-laden films.

5. here's what I got back from IFC regarding their commercials....
Thank you for reaching out, your feedback is important to us.

We're really sorry to hear that. IFC is the only place independent films live unedited and in their entirety.

We know this is a big change for our film fans. By adding commercials we can create new programming like Onion News Network and Portlandia premiering in January.

Sincerely,
IFC

although, I am looking forward to the Onion News Network.....

6. I share your pissed-off-edness
I also don't watch films on AMC because of the same reason. I like their original programming, though.

7. This also pisses me off. It is what ruined AMC but made Mad Men and
Breaking Bad available to their service. TCM is all that is left for uninterupted movies but Comcast has done their part by moving them to another premium station that is now an added cost.
