Howard Stern: 5 More Years with Sirius Radio
Source: CNN

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Howard Stern has signed another five-year contract with SiriusXM Radio, putting to rest speculation that he might leave and sending the stock on a double-digit surge.

The raunchy radio host made the announcement Thursday morning, but he was scant on details, such as pay.

The announcement quelled concerns that Stern might leave the satellite radio company. Sirius (SIRI) stock surged as much as 14% in pre-market trading, and recently backed off its peak for a 9% gain.

The raven-locked shock jock has been with the radio station since December 2005, when he signed a five-year contract for $500 million. At that time, paid-subscriber radio was viewed as an experiment.

3. I wonder how much his wig signed for.
That had to be a big part of any deal made.

4. He has a rug?
Wow, I'm surprised . He stopped being funny years ago. Back in the day 80's and early 90's he was a riot.

16. I stopped listening when he got lazy...
No more skits like "Mayberry KKK",song parodies like "Don't you dare have lunch with Jeffrey Dammer" by Peter Noone to the tune of "Mrs Brown you've got a lovely daughter" or great comedians like the Belz, Kinison, Richard Lewis etc. It became boring diatribes about daily events in his life. Remember the "shut up,sit down" classic with his Dad? That was good radio. He just got too full of himself and put it on cruise control. I guess anyone would for 500 mill.

17. Good points....but I have to say that his interviews over the past month or so have been AMAZING!!
You are correct that the amount of humor in the show, especially with Artie gone has decreased quite a bit, and when he does do one of the bits where he plays his Mom or his Dad or something - those bits usually go on 2-3 times longer than they should...

BUT many of his recent interviews are some of the best ever. Of course the Billy Joel from a few weeks ago was legendary, Billy just came in and sat at a piano for 1.5 hours answering questions and playing parts of many many songs, it was amazing. Like no interview of Billy Joel ever.

Then before that the Jay-Z interview was great and I can't stand Jay-Z but by the end of the 45 minute interview even I wanted to go out and buy a Jay-Z album.

Other recent favorites have been David Arquette, not the infamous phone call but he came in the studio a few weeks after that and it was probably the funniest and most honest interview I've ever heard. Another one around the same time was...I'm trying to think of it...oh yeah, Denise Richards, and you think Denise Richards is just a pretty face and has nothing interesting to say but literally just listening over the radio without even getting to see her it's impossible to not fall in love with her, it was a great interview and she's more honest and candid on Howard's show than anywhere else, period.

7. Great news!
People will knock Howard, but he has been very supportive of Democratic candidates for president, gay rights, and now Wikileaks.

12. I think that's too picky.
There's 100+ channels. She was probably already on Sirius through syndication.

13. Yes, but she wasn't an employee. She 'quit' (was fired) her last gig for 'freedom of speech.'
So that she could go somewhere where she could use the N-word freely.

They stream a lot of liberal but mostly conservative programming, but now they have a hate-monger as an employee.

14. All companies have "hate mongerers" as employees.
If you stopped using all companies who had an employee you disagree with on staff...I doubt you'd be able to find one company anywhere to still do business with.

Do you have cable tv??
