I finally watched Oldboy.
About 3/4 of the way through, I thought I was going to be sitting here writing how it was overhyped, how it wasn't as effed-up as people had told me it was going to be.

But then...well, see, now that's messed up. What? Wait, WHAT? Oh! Gross!

And so that's why? Okay. Okay, wait a second. Oh, you're kidding! AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH, NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

And the actual very end ending? Did that end the way I think it did?

I don't feel so good.

2. A brilliantly made, beautifully constructed,
piece of crap. With a pretentious, disgusting, pseudo-philosophy that a only teenage pothead might find deep. Never with another movie have I had such a powerful wish to get my time back, or to have my mind wiped clean of the pollutants.

I'm sorry to hear you've been befouled.

And yes, it ended the way you think it did. Or maybe worse.

4. I like how people can't just dislike a movie.
They also have to insult those that do.

And I'll have you know I'm a 42 year old pothead. ;)

7. Considering most people's tastes,
strong insults should be viewed as a recommendation.

If we love freaky art, we should expect people to freak out.

The angrier people get, the more I am interested.

6. Awesome movie. I did not think of it as fucked up, I thought of it as creative and fun.

eta: You may be interested in the other two movies in the series.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance.

They have different characters and different stories, but both focus on revenge.

9. He should watch Thirst as well.
The only vampire movie worth a damn in a decade...probably longer. :)

10. Thirst was really good. Now that you mention it, I think you are right about no decent
vampire movies in a long time.

I have not seen Twilight, but my wife did and she said it was really bad, and she is a fan of the books.

The Underworld and Blade movies are more Action than vampire.

30 Days of Night was a mixed bag.

I saw Shadow of the Vampire, but I don't remember it very well.

I still have not seen Frostbitten. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oWQdeRKYiI Looks fun, but most horror trailers look good.

And I still have not seen, Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LRIypcaIX4 Looks terrible yet good at the same time. It's low on my list.

11. Shadow was awesome, thanks for reminding me of it.
Willem Defoe was great! But it wasn't really a horror movie at all, more of a dry comedy. Still a great vampire movie though.

I haven't seen either of these other two. Frostbitten looks ok. The other one, well, maybe over a bong or two. :)

14. I saw Thirst in the theater.
Great, great movie.

BTW, that's the same theater I caught Dead Snow at, The Laemmle 5 on Sunset in Hollywood. Go there if you can get there. Great place to catch an offbeat flick. Fingers crossed that The Human Centipede should be crawling through that theater real soon.

17. Dead Snow was fun.
Not great, but fun. I enjoyed it.

Yeah, I';ll be catching The Human Centipede for sure. That's just way too fucked up to pass on. Life is too short to miss that kind of whacked stuff! :)

13. 'Fucked-up' is a compliment in my book. It's what I live for.

I think I may have seen Lady Vengeance on IFC or Sundance. Young girl goes to prison, turns into a model prisoner (a saint, really) then gets paroled and goes to town on anyone what wronged her?

(I spel gud)
