It is community supported. They do internship program where people get hands on training in all aspects of radio broadcasting then people can work on air too. It really is THE BEST RADIO there is.

3. This one: WKSU, from Kent State University.
http://www.wksu.org/listen/

They have wonderful classical music, which I love...

They also do bluegrass and news and all sorts of other things, which I haven't explored.

I stream this station almost every night, and it's great.

20. I'm sure they aren't all like that..
But the woman was talking about how Bombay was going to fall into a giant sinkhole because they've pumped all the groundwater out from under it and how one person in 2 won't have access to clean water in Africa ten years from now..

I knew it was bad but egads!

Don't get me wrong, I liked the station and I think it's cool it was just that particular book..

All are solid left-leaning intelligent talk radio - done on a shoestring budget at that.

At least the indie stations that aren't affiliated with a real radio station..
