3. I'm certain this is hilarious...

...but I can tell you the short version in 30 seconds. It was badly written. Badly produced. And badly acted. Lucas was blinded by the tie-in product market and his own egotistical assumption that whatever he produced was going to be good, and he didn't take the time to make sure he was creating a good story.

7. You might be certain that it's like other Youtubes but it's not.

...you really should look at the first few minutes of the first of these 7 videos to understand what they are and why I'm recommending them.

Some guy named Mike from Milwaukee, WI put together a 70-minute video review discussing the many reasons why the movie was horrible. And this isn’t your usual fanboy rant, this is an epic, well-edited well-constructed piece of geek film criticism. In fact, the way I learned about the video was from Lost co-creator and Star Trek producer Damon Lindelof, who said “Your life is about to change. This is astounding film making. Watch ALL of it."

The light saber duel at the end was great. Other than that I agree, Phantom Mennace was disapointing. George Lucas is laughing all the way to the bank though. The guys who produced that video probably went and saw it numerous times and probably have the entire Star Wars saga on DVD sitting on their shelf.

Because if you had seen even the first 15 seconds of the first of these review videos, you'd see that there is no way the guy "probably" has seen it numerous times and has it on DVD.

And if you think the video is just about The Phantom Menace, and why it was bad, you haven't seen the video.

Observations such as "George Lucas is laughing all the way to the bank" are dealt with, in detail, using documentary footage, in the first 5 minutes of the first of the 7 videos, but again, the video is much more than that.

Why don't you just watch part of the first 10 minute video?

This set of videos is much more than about The Phantom Menace. It's about what makes good action/sci-fi films and how, in spite of its financial success, as you note, The Phantom Menace (all the prequels) broke every rule that the original series used so well and betrayed the trust of those who loved Star Wars.

That's why I recommended it. It's got less to do with The Phantom Menace and more with a guy's obsession with Star Wars and why he was so disappointed in the film, he became a serial killer.
