Twilight actor to star as Varg Vikernes
Edited on Wed May-27-09 12:18 PM by Forkboy
Jackson Rathbone, who plays vampire Jasper Hale in the teenage vampire series, will play the man who is still behind bars for the murder of 1993 murder of Mayhem guitarist Oystein Aarseth.

The movie will be entitled Lords Of Chaos, based on the Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind’s book of the same name, and will be directed by Sion Sono.

The film will begin shooting in Norway this September.

A little history on ole Varg....

Varg Vikernes is a Norwegian black metal musician, convicted murderer and arsonist, and (former) far-right political activist. In 1991 Vikernes conceived the one-man music project Burzum, which quickly became popular within the early Norwegian black metal scene. Later he became a prominent organizer for the Heathen Front and authored several writings on Germanic neopaganism that were published in "various underground publications". In Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, director Sam Dunn described Vikernes as "the most notorious metal musician of all time"

Varg wasn't a big fan of the book (neither was I, frankly): "I dare say the vast majority of all the statements made in this book are either misinterpretations; taken out of context; misunderstandings; malicious lies made by enemies; a result of ignorance; extreme exaggerations; and/or third-hand information at best. This includes the statements attributed to me! . . . have no insight into or even good knowledge about the subjects discussed and ... don't understand one bit what Black Metal was about on 1991 and 1992 ... they have managed to fill the heads of a generation of metal fans with lies."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this news. I love his music, but Varg is a true douchebag. On the other hand, the book sucked ass and was pretty ignorant of the scene, so it could suck ass. And Jackson Rathbone? Twilight fans are sure to love the music in this one. I see teen girls snapping up early Emperor and Mayhem CDs after it's release.

Oh, and Varg was released a couple weeks ago.... :scared:
