Kate ‘hesitant to believe’ Jon was unfaithful

The mother of the eight tiny stars of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” vowed Thursday to survive the tabloid firestorm that has erupted over allegations that her husband cheated on her — charges that Jon Gosselin emphatically denies.

“We just need to weather this storm, just like all the other storms that we’ve been through,” Kate Gosselin told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira in New York. The tabloid attention and paparazzi have come as something of a surprise to her, she added.

“It is so public. It’s one of the things we did not envision when we started our show,” Gosselin said. “It’s one of the things that comes with it — the tabloid stuff. To be very honest, I’m very hesitant to believe any of it. It comes with the territory. We’re dealing with it just like everybody else does.”

Gosselin was ostensibly visiting TODAY to talk about her new best-selling book “Eight Little Faces,” but she spent much of her airtime with Vieira talking about the allegations, which were published in the current edition of Us Weekly. Jon Gosselin and their eight children had been scheduled to appear with her, but as controversy continued to swirl, the family decided Wednesday that it would be better if Jon stayed at home with the children.

Hey Kate--if you want to make big bucks on TV, get the free house and other stuff, and generally have the world kissing your ass and treating you like a celebrity, then guess what: yes, "the tabloid stuff" comes right along with it. Always worked that way.

Especially since you are not famous because you actually accomplished anything useful. You're the TV version of a circus side-show geek. You'd have never BEEN a celebrity except for your clown-car vagina. So STFU and enjoy your unearned wealth and undeserved celebrity. I frankly hate all the breeder shows, especially the Duggars, since they belong to the weirdo right-wing Fundamentalist "Quiverfull" cult. I've noticed the media doesn't mention THAT little detail much. 7. The children are working and she's getting the money

There are no child labor laws for reality tv kids in PA, that's why they are still living there. They have no choice, but to film when "mom" says so. It's sick. She can earn a living without hurting her children, but she chooses not to. Those kids are going to need a lot of therapy as a result.

9. I refuse to watch these shows with the huge families

If anything, they should be a warning to aspiring breeders - it's really really really hard to successfully raise a large family in America today. But now we give the parents fame and fortune at the expense of the children (already born with a disadvantage - be it financial or attention time or both). These are not people we should put on a pedestal be it for admiration or ridicule. We should let them deal with the choices they made in private and pray to God (whether you believe in him or not) that the kids somehow end up alright.
