Rest in Peace, Stan Winston
Stan Winston, famed special effects afficianado, died on Sunday at age 62. Among his many credits are his work on The Biography of Miss Jane Pittman, Aliens, and Jurassic Park. His creations are too numerous to list.

My daughter and I knew him and his family briefly, years ago, when our daughters were in dance classes together. He has inspired millions with his fantasy, science fiction, and horror films. His influence is surely partly "to blame" for my artist daughter's continuing interest, in her 30s, in all things otherworldly.

Stan went away, too soon, and left a wife, Karen, and his children Debbie and Matthew, and their children. But I doubt that he's lonely in his new space. The denizens of every film he ever worked on are surely keeping him company. After all, they are his children, too.
