Transformers The Movie (1986) Full Length Score
I’ve been very interested (as I’m sure a lot of other Transformers fans are) in eventually owning a copy of Vince DiCola’s original full-length instrumental score for Transformers The Movie (1986) for a long time and I actually e-mailed him about it recently and he was nice enough to write back. He stated that he does not currently have any plans to re-release the full-length score again anytime in the future. It didn’t sound like he necessarily ruled out the possibility of doing so but he didn’t really commit to it either other than to say that if circumstances change that he would make the information available on his website and other fan sites. To date, his full-length score to the movie has only been available to attendees at the annual Bot-Con conventions (which, sadly, I have never had the opportunity to attend). The latest (2007) re-release of the original soundtrack to the movie does feature some additional well-chosen instrumental tracks from the movie (i.e. Unicron's theme) but the full-length score still remains frustratingly elusive. I have been trying for awhile to think of some way that those of us who really want a copy of the score might rally enough fans to encourage Mr. DiCola to seriously consider making the full-length score available again on CD or, at the very least, making the score available to download (i.e. MP3). Seeing as how there does not seem to be any way of finding the previous albums anywhere at this time (they are out of print and the company that produced the albums-3H Enterprise-is out of business), does anybody have any suggestions on how we might be able to encourage Mr. DiCola to make his full-length score to the movie available in some form again? If not, does anybody have any ideas (other than eBay) about where I might be able to find a copy of either the 1997 “Til All Are One” or the 2001 “Lighting Their Darkest Hour” albums?

2. Apparently not
Trying to find one of those aforementioned albums over the internet has been extremely discouraging not to mention the fact that Mr. DiCola only released a few extra instrumental tracks on the new soundtrack. This isn't to say that I didn't appreciate him doing so because he certainly did choose some good themes from the film to add to the soundtrack but if he really wanted to do something special for the 20th anniversary of the movie I would've thought that he would've wanted to give the fans something extra special such as the entire instrumental score. And, frankly, I don't see why he couldn't re-release the music since it is HIS music after all and he is still releasing albums. It almost sounds like he just doesn't want to. Maybe he is just tired of TFTM-related projects (not that he would be doing anything new by re-releasing the score). But he does still sell copies of other TFTM-related albums (demos, outtakes, variations) that he worked on that were also previously exclusive to Bot-Cons right on his studio website, so........? Oh well. *sigh* Maybe us fans of his score will get lucky someday.

3. til all are one
I LOVED the music as a kid and even tho the movie is pure
nostalgia as far as entertainment value, the music still has a
special place in my heart. I remembered how badly i wanted to
listen to just the score - that's probably what got me
interested in that genre.

Anywayz, when the 3H Til All Are One 2-disc set came out I was
beyond estatic. I put away my beer drinking money and bought
that ASAP! (Which was a MAJOR feat for a raging alcoholic
like me)
