1. Actually the first EP by The Wipers was released in 1979.
They were the first grunge rock band I know of.

i never did. mudhoney is the first and only grunge band there ever was imo.

3. LOLS Well I agree early Mudhoney was purge grunge, Green River
predates them.

The first Wipers EP was pretty raw and dirty.

...Of course a looser definition of "grunge" might suggest the only grunge band there ever was is Napalm Death. (lols)

Anyhoo nice to see a Mudhoney fan on here (if you are one).

5. Still kicking myself for the time . . .
I could have seen Tad, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and Nirvana for 4 bucks at the UW Hub. But I had to study. So I went to the Dead Milkmen the next week instead.

I heard it during the height of grunge and it took me days to figure out that it wasn't something new.

Incomprehensible lyrics - Check!
fantastic grungy guitar - Check!
Dark lyrics - Check!

Of course, it's sacreligious to give Ted credit for anything on DU, so never mind.
