Why I love BBC
1. Torchwood - very much enjoy this sci-fi show, with good amount of drama and humor, that witty british humor

2. Graham Norton Show - oh man, i literally laugh out loud each week! it's especially funny when americans guest on it, they have so much more fun than on Leno or Letterman

3. Hotel Babylon - ok, that's one of those guilty pleasure shows...again, the witty humor, the juicy stories

4. BBC World News - the only news I watch on TV

5. the old shows - Keeping Up Appearances and As Time Goes By...As Time Goes By used to be in reruns, but now they stopped...once in a while I can catch both on public television

unfortunatelly, among my friends, not very many enjoy quality British programming...so I come to DU to chat about that (needed a break from debating candidates) :)

2. BBC is the only cable channel worth watching
besides Discovery and Keith Olbermann.

3. Okay, we could actually live together. Your TV schedule is exactly
the same as mine. Love the Brits shows. Have never seen Graham Norton Show but will make it my business to. Hotel Babylon, the best, and I actually understand and "get" Torchwood. Saturday nights are my favs, they're all repeats and I know dialogue but I don't care, they're the best. Waiting for God...Haaaahaaa

4. oh, you gotta watch Graham
I got into it about a few months ago...let me just say that guests are all having drinks, wine, beer, cocktails...they can curse, and talk about pretty much anything they want, and that mix makes for a great, funny show..

i keep meaning to start recording Dr.Who, need to get on that...Torchwood starts a new season at the end of the month, right?

5. I love BBC America!
Currently, my favorite show is Life on Mars. I like all the shows you listed, as well as Monarch of the Glen, Doctor Who, Footballers Wives and The Kumars at No. 42, which is a combination sitcom and talk show - and it's hilarious! :-)

18. I've been watching the Kumars for years -- some of the interviews are just surreal

Tom Jones' and Patrick Stewart's come to mind. Sanjeev Bhuskar and Meera Syal are comedic geniuses.

But the BBC comedies that make me laugh hard enough to hurl are Creature Comforts and the Just For Laughs 'Gags' shows.

And Little Britain? How can two guys end up being funnier than the six in Monty Python?

6. Add "TopGear" to your mix -
trust me. I caught the show while I was in London and couldn't believe how funny it is - a flippin' car show and it's hysterically funny! The guys remind me of my brothers. Directions? We don't need no stinkin' directions? Build it? Of course we can build it; just because we've never built a car before . . .

Trust me. You'll love it. :)

BBC Food channel! I pretty much survived on that and BBC World News for 3.5 months when I was in Kabul.

13. Life on Mars and the News
I wouldn't survive without the BBC Work News.

And as odd a premise as it is, I love Life on Mars! I remember 1973 only too well. :)

14. I USED TO love BBC America
but then they

1) Stopped shows in midseason without notice (Bad Girls, NY-LON)

2) Refused to pick up the subsequent seasons (Bodies) of some shows

3) Ran too many reruns of shows that weren't good in the beginning (Benny Hill)

4) Devoted too much of the day to reality shows

5) Canceled Mystery Monday

6) Stopped showing the one-time dramas that they used to show on Saturday nights

and, after I dropped digital cable in disgust (knowing that I could always order the Life on Mars II DVDs from the UK and play them on my computer), I looked in on the website to find that they were running reruns of the U.S. version of Dancing with the Stars.

BBC Canada is also heavy on the reality shows, but in addition, they show up-to-date episodes of Waking the Dead, MI-5, and Silent Witness. Now that I'd subscribe to.

15. Big fan of Spooks
...or MI-5 here in the states. It has gotten a little too "US" actionay, if that is a word. I liked it more in the beginning when it was James Bond without guns.

the old "war horses," as well as world music, jazz, and discussions of literary and cultural topics.

(in fact check out everything that Catherine Tate has on Youtube - most of it is brilliant)

TittyBangBang is good too, although some of the material is patchy.
Here's TV-obsessed Carol on MTV cribs

Music Quiz "Never Mind The Buzzcocks" keeps getting better & better

As does current Affairs quiz "Mock The Week"

And if you like Graham Norton, you'll probably like Jonathan Ross
