Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs
Has anyone else seen this list?

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/6596661/500songs

Okay, let's put aside the obvious bias in that the number 1 song was "like a ROLLING STONE" and the #2 song was by the ROLLING STONES, but I couldn't believe when I discovered the #1 ranked Pink Floyd song was #314, Confortably Numb. The #1 (AND ONLY!) Billy Joel song, #421, Piano man.

While "HOT STUFF" was #103

"LOSE YOURSELF was #166

And HEY YA was #180

I'm not saying that any 3 of those are BAD songs, I actually like all three, but COME ON! Hey Ya? Lose Yourself?

1. It came from a very small # of music industry insiders
so I'm not suprised.

The list of those who voted can be found in the back of the issue.

2. Those lists are really frustrating
cause who can agree what the list should be?

Dancing in the Streets? Tracks of My Tears?

2 of the most overplayed & overrated Motown songs, IMO.

5. 90% from 50s and 60s?
Looks like they really liked the 50s and 60s...

I think it's premature to label all these songs the greatest of all time when most people would say they never heard of them. The list is obvously personal opinions.

7. Hey, that's what I thought...
...and I had to read the initial post twice before I realized it wasn't.

Go for it.

8. I think they do these lists to tick people off--
I and my brother went ape-shit over their top guitarist's list not too long ago (he is a guitarist, and I'm...er...musically inclined)because of the people who weren't on the list, and because of the ordering of the people who were. Top pop song we didn't get too riled about, because we aren't pop music people. and we just ignored this list altogether. Love me some Rolling Stone magazine but "I read it for the *Interviews*" the way some people read Playboy for the articles.

10. "I Believe I Can Fly" should have never even been mentioned
...and enough with the Beatles leg-humping already.
No "Ace of Spades?" "Radio, Radio?" The Pixies? Please.

11. All these "top" lists are rigged.
I figured that out when VH1 listed Dave Grohl as one of the sexiest musicians ever.
