Good reading history of "Six Frigates" & founding of US Navy
This book on how the US decided to have a Navy was a real eye-opener for me. Plus the writer, Ian W. Toll, makes it read like a good novel. That period of our history between the end of the Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812 has always seemed to be glanced over by many writers of history, so I really got into this. I do read many types of history books, but find many like a presentation of dates and events, without much attempt at keeping the reader awake. I found this writer has a good style, and had me completing this book in a short time.
