He's from Oklahoma, and I picked up one of his books MANY years ago, and have been hooked every since.

I call him the poor man's John Grisham.

Start with Primary Justice, and work your way up.

2. Will do
I love series books. I looked him up on www.stopyourekillingme.com and he has quite a selection.

Are his books serious and scary or some light dialog?

You will enjoy smoogatz' books (once you get over being a teeny bit shocked) :)

3. Picked up PRIMARY JUSTICE today
but won't get started on it for a week or so...

I like reading the first book in a series first, but it has happened that I got the last one written, liked it so much that I went back and started the whole thing from the beginning.

I have to like the main character to get me through the few books that don't shine as much as some.

THanks, will keep you posted...

4. BLIND JUSTICE - not PRIMARY
Couldn't get PRIMARY JUSTICE at the library. Managed to get BLIND JUSTICE and DEADLY through interlibrary loan. My local library seems to have all the rest.

The copy I got of BLIND is the same color as John "Boner" - an unnatural color because it's so old..a kind of firelit antique gold.

But I managed to get to page 100 or so and I wanted to tell you that in spite of the miserable condition of the book, I am enjoying it. They're enough mentioned of the first book, PRIMARY, that I sort of know how Ben started out.

I will read all of them - looks like it's going to be a good series.

5. Found out I'm on the list waiting
for the first book, PRIMARY JUSTICE. As it turns out after reading the next two in sequence, there are a few questions about the character, Ben Kincaid, that I'd like answered about his bitterness in some family stuff.

Anyhow, Bernhardt is now one of my favorites, too.

6. Just finished PEFECT JUSTICE
Edited on Sun Jun-21-09 02:31 PM by fadedrose
It kept me up till almost daylight - the last 100 pages or so are gripping - trial stuff usually is (that's the one about the Vietnamese, white supremacists & Belinda).

Well, I've finished the first 4 - and put the next two on request at the library.

Since I like your stuff, maybe you might like some of mine - I like James R. Doss (stories seem to have nothing to do with his books; he's very good, and C.E. Box (Joe Pickett, Ranger) also very good. I like rhe series books of Craig Johnson too. The last I read was ANOTHER MAN'S MOCCASINS and enjoyed.

7. Just finished CRUEL JUSTICE, this is
the one with Julie showing up with her baby, child molester likes Abie, Ben defends Leeman Hayes, black teen who is charged with killing woman at caddyshack at a fancy club. Rutherfords adopted the ladies' child...but she never agreed, you probably remember this one.

It was very good.

Thanks for recommending Bernhardt. He is definiately a fav of mine now.

Going to read NAKED JUSTICE next...
