1. I just read the publisher's comments
It's another story of life in Afghanistan. About a young girl.

It does sound wonderful.

8. it has been a while since i read it
i just remember thinking he gave this a happy ending and wrapped it up neatly.

i think it reads like a book that wants to be film.

12. I loved it
was surprised, saddened, shocked... I thought it was really compelling.

I know some people bitched about the ending being too nice, but it didn't bother me.

13. I was amazed at how honest the narrator was...
...especially about his own actions. Made me not want to read any further in some parts. Pretty good writing, if it requires as much courage from a reader as from the writer.

14. Yeah
as I was reading it, I thought it odd to have such an honest narrator. It sure was unusual, and I think he did a great job of telling the story without the reader hating him.

17. "Such an Honest Narrator"
That was the most stark impression I took from The Kite Runner, too. The book was almost a confessional. It tore me up and I did love the book.

I also edited my post so I corrected the title. I have been on painkillers following surgery.

Khaled Hosseini certainly has a gift for writing and telling a story. I liked this book a lot, too.

19. Hosseini's "book-talk"
Went to see Hosseini when he came thru Seattle promoting the Thousand Splendid Suns book < which I read and liked, tho not quite as much as the Kite Runner>. Anyhow, his talk was the day after the last Soprano episode, and he walked out on the stage, stood there a moment taking in the warm reception, and then said, into the applause, "And how many of you folks thought that Tony was gonna get whacked?" What a cool fellow and a wonderful writer. Ms. Bigmack

24. Just about through "Kite Runner"
Maybe I'm crazy but his writing, at least in how he develops and portrays his characters, reminds me of Steinbeck.
