Let Me Be The Turd In The Punch Bowl
We lost. Lets be big and get over it.

What did we do right?

Kerry was our best candidate. His campaign wasn't perfect, but it was good. It wasn't like 2000, where the media jumped on the Gore is a liar bandwagon.

What did we do wrong?

We didn't emphasize the message about the economy, jobs, and why Kerry had a better plan enough. I'm saying enough, Kerry tried better than any other candidate. Republicans were energized by values.

What did the wingnuts do right?

They suppressed votes. They used challenges at the precinct level to keep lines long. They bundled hot button issues like gay marriage on the ballot.

What do we need to do now?

Define liberalism. Define liberalism as being synonymous with good government. Define liberalism as being in the best interest of working people. Learn from the right wing dirty tricks. What dirty tricks kept hundreds of voters from turning out? Bundling constitutional amendments, which were hot button issues?

Work local. It's a whole lot of fun to play big picture. It will work better if we work at local levels to get the best candidates, with the best plans, in the pool.

1. no, I know what we did wrong.
Abortion and gay marriage. The two STUPIDEST things in the world fucking killed us.

If Kerry had said, I think the states should decide on abortion, then we would have a easy Kerry victory at this point.

10. Yes and No...
Gay marriage yes... It should be a state issue until there's a clear trend. I think that gay marriage should be a positive issue for liberals. It will just take some time to sell it.

Abortion? No way. Roe v. Wade is settled law. The way to talk about this is to show the reality. Under Clinton, abortion declined every year. Under Bush, abortion rates inccreased every year.

12. No Shit Sherlock...
I know US and world history. I also know '94 and Newt Gingrich history. Liberalism has become a dirty word. It's like saying childbirth is a disgusting event.

7. What we did wrong...
1)Let them fuck us the first time in the 2000 election.
2)Not boycott the rightwing media in receivership after 2000
3)Be polite and reasonable while the wingnuts play hardball.
4)Not draw a line in the sand.

8. Creeping Cowardice
Now ain't the time to punk out. Ya gotta get rowdy, hit the streets, spread the word. No Amnesiac fugue. Remember the past. Another four years there may not BE elections in Amerika. That's the skinny. You're the Fourth Reich. Read the Revolution in Military affairs. It's all there. If Kerry backs down -- decapitate, organize horizontally. That's the future anyway: the grass roots.

17. I've seen it swing both ways.
In Maryland, Sauerbray took to the streets. A pitiful Democratic governor OWNED her in the second run.

Fuck the street game, it's time to take it to the next level.

Get this into your skull. I've busted my balls trying to get Kerry elected. It's over. It's time to redefine strategy.

23. our credibility is on the line. if we won't fight for this now...
... then why SHOULD anyone trust us to govern the country?

Your vision of educate-the-masses, grassrootsy bliss simply ignores how people really think and what wins their respect.

People may squawk at us to quit, but the bottom line is that nobody respects a quitter. No one would have any confidence in a party of quitters.

If we want to have credibility, we have to put up a fight. Otherwise, how could anyone trust us to fight for them and the things they care about?
