For God's sake why does USA have such a diffficult electoral procedure?
Here in Canada, when it's time for an election, our government sends out notices to ALL citizens, informing them of where they will vote...We show up there and vote and THAT IS THAT!....We are not indentified with any party!...Our names are on the voting list simply because we are Canadian citizens!....We don't have to register as anything...It's so simple...AND IT WORKS!

5. Imagine if Bush looked this likely to win your election
Would you appreciate a rash of "Why is your country so fucked up?" posts?

Just cool it.

I guess I was just saying there is a solution...Didn't mean to sound superior or anything like that.

in John Stewart's book? Samantha Bee tells us how it's done in Canada, the joke being that nobody gives a shit?

I don't mean to be an asshole. Long night, sorry. Look at it this way-if it were decided solely by the popular vote, Kerry would have conceded hours ago.

8. What do you mean "nobody gives a shit?"
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 04:27 AM by glarius
We haven't had anything to really "give a shit about, so far."...
The last government that we didn't like was Prime Minister Brian Mulroney's P.C. government in the early 90s....With our vote we got rid of him and demolished his party....(They were left with 2 members)

P.S...Don't forget that Samantha Bee is a comedian...Take what she says with a grain of salt....

4. Our Corperatist govt will not allow for such a heinous
election to occur.

Here in NM, I had to send many to alternate polling places, 'CAUSE they had to now.

6. Can you say Banana Republic?
I really wish my French Canadian forebears did not emigrate.......This country really sucks right now...We are on the edge of something truly ugly. Please spread the word in Canada that we Americans need your support because The Bush people are going to jam this one through again.....And maybe world outrage will help. Thanks for checking in!

12. Thanks Glarius....I agree with you. One man, one vote.
This system is so fucked up; not to mention corrupt. I'm 55, voting all my life. I've ALWAYS hated this voting system. It is Antiquated and unfair.

My parents were at the docks headed for Australia while I was inutero; I wish the hell they had boarded that damn ship!

Any thinking person who supports that moronic, war-mongering simplton, is beyond hope....The whole world is aghast at the prospect of 4 more years of this administration....

18. HAHAHAHHAHA
A Bush supporter. That's rich.

No, you were talking about "the system". Changing the system to one man one vote wouldn't have helped. For the obvious reason.

15. Um, I hate to get into this .. .
But even though our system is kinda silly (honestly, MMP, the debates we've had), I'm totally with you on this.

RafterMan, I realise that currently every American with a brain is in pain. But, um, you do know that the US electoral system *is* stuffed, right? And those of us on the outside do kinda wonder. :evilfrown:

20. It was created to be corrupted
I really believe that, sorry folks. I'm not convinced the truly "average" American has had an audible voice in this country for a long time. We vote, but we don't elect the president - That duty belongs (and has always belonged) to members of the ruling class.
