Al Franken had a slip of the tongue ..."if the prez is re-elected.."
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 03:19 PM by jean
At the end of the third hour of his Nov 29th show, Al was commenting on his interview with retired machinist George Kneifel and his attorney, John Stember. Kneifel’s former employer, Rexam, is suing him and other retirees in an effort to save money on health benefits. Al noted that bush will likely appoint more pro-business judges who will find for companies rather than retirees.

Al said this will be the type of thing we'll see more of

" if the president is re-elected . . ."

He paused after this short phrase, cleared his voice and said something like, 'which we hope won't happen...'

This show was live, not a re-run or 'best of' - here's the link to their blog, describing today's show:

I cling to any hope and wonder if Al knows something we don't, yet.

1. I have to take your word
but it does give us hope that he is this as much as we are!

8. so far he's been a staunch election fraud unbeliever - he has a track
record of bumbling words on radio and (usually) correcting himself. He didn't correct it by immediately saying 'when' or 'once'...

It's probably just him misspeaking and running out of time (which he often does and gets cut off).

2. I doubt that. Al has always been hip with the "ready to concede
we lost , Bush won, we need to reach out to moderates crowd.

11. Listen to it, when they replay the show later today...
...assuming they don't edit it out. He said it in the last 5 minutes of the show.

5. I heard him too
I tuned in right at that point and thought maybe it was a repeat. All of this waiting to see if something is up is driving me crazy.:)

6. The "if the president is re-elected" part...
...could just be a typical mistake but the "which we hope won't happen.." part is definitely interesting. Unfortunately I didn't hear it so I can't really judge.

12. Sorry. This isn't news. This is a mistake.
We are really getting desperate to read anything into this. When we start parsing Al Franken for meaning, it is bad!:eyes: :eyes:

13. no - Al bumbled his words - he was not reporting 'the news' or anything
of the sort.

9. I heard it. Quite an awkward moment...as he tactfully rephrased
...though not well at all. While normally very "quick"...Al really seemed to be at a loss for words.
If it was just an accidental slip, he would've recovered more quickly. Clearly even though he's been "cautious" lately in his support of Bush's re-election, it's obvious now he's AT LEAST being swayed by all the Election Fraud news.
Then again, he MAY know more than he ALMOST said...since he does seem 'well-connected.':)

10. he plans to run for office in Minn
and may not want to be branded a "sore loser" yet.

more likely just mis-speaking.

14. Probably a mistake, but
I'm sure it's probably old news here, but there is a bill in Congress right now that seeks to overturn the 22nd Amendment and eliminate Presidential term limits. So I guess anything's possible. :scared:

Realistically, it was just a mistake, or he was referring to the fact that right now we can't trust the recent election results. But knowing that some people in Congress do indeed want to put into motion the possibility of a run again for W, well...

16. If they do change term limits, perhaps ...
... Clinton will return to kick GW out of office!

15. I heard that today, and thought "he meant re-inaugurated."
But now that you mention it... it does seem a bit odd, doesn't it?
