Stop planning as if we have, for we are not down just yet. Think about the following BEFORE you say we're doomed:
Who would have thought that a nation left alone and weakened against the mightiest armies in the world could have not only stood against them but turned them back and pulled victory from the jaws of defeat?
Who would have thought that a crippled man who seemed to be without a plan except for a "New Deal" could have brought a nation from being on its knees to standing like a titan?
Who would have thought that a leaderless army running in the face of an overwhelming foe would have been able to do an about face and halt them at the gates of their capitol city?
Who would have thought a major colony of the largest empire on Earth could have broken free of that empire without firing a single shot?
Who would have thought that a collection of insignificant colonies on the edge of the known world could have risen in rebellion against the strongest nation at the time and won?
Who would have thought that a nation whose fleet was outnumbered two to one could have bested the mighties armada ever assembled?
Who would have thought that a nation divided by internal squabbling could have not only successfully united and driven back a determined and capable foe?
Who would have thought that an army of 3,000 men could have held off a force nearly 100 times their size long enough for their nation to rally to victory?
Consider all of the above, then tell me, do you think that any of those people had no doubts about their situation?
Do you think that they never thought for a moment that what they were doing might all be in vain?
Do you want to dissapoint them, make their bold sacrifices meaningless by just GIVING UP?
My answer to that is simple:
In the words of John Paul Jones when asked for his surrender by a British warship:
"I have not yet BEGUN to fight!!!"
