A blissfully evidence-free challenge
The American electoral process, though imperfect as any human endeavor (think the 1960 returns in West Virginia and Chicago -- and possibly Lyndon Johnson's election to Congress), generally works pretty well.
The exceptions have generally come when the intended separation of powers among the various branches and levels of government have been circumvented by some local city "boss," whose coordinated partisan flunkies then grin and nudge each other and conspire to load up the polls by casting false "votes" for people who now reside in the local cemeteries, or whatever.
Such abuses should be rooted out when found, of course, which is why no one should be denied access to the courts if they believe the public trust has been seriously betrayed -- and can present some ... evidence.
All that being said, the burden of proof -- or at least of establishing credible doubt -- falls on a party such as Minden resident Rick Newell Davis, who has filed suit against Nevada's five Republican electors, chosen by the state's 418,690-397,190 popular vote to gather Dec. 13 and cast Nevada's five electoral votes to re-elect President George W. Bush.
