GAO won't study 2004 e-votes
GAO won't study 2004 e-votes
BY Michael Hardy
Published on Nov. 24, 2004

Citing a lack of authority, Comptroller General David Walker has rebuffed calls for the Government Accountability Office to study voting irregularities possibly linked to electronic systems used in the Nov. 2 general election.

"While GAO has and will continue to do certain elections-related work, we are not authorized to engage in enforcement efforts relating to specific allegations of voting irregularities," Walker wrote in a statement issued Nov. 23.

5. Sarpy County Neb Totals Gave Bush 2100 Extra Votes
Excerpt from News article about GAO Investigation

"In Sarpy County, Neb., a computer problem added thousands of votes to the county total. It was not clear which presidential candidate benefited from the error in the overwhelmingly Republican state."

Another Media Blackout of the truth..

8. Excerpt from Cocoa's link
Friday, Nov. 26:

Congress' investigative agency, responding to complaints from around the country, has begun to look into the Nov. 2 vote count, including the handling of provisional ballots and malfunctions of voting machines.

The presidential results won't change, but the studies could lead to changes.

The Government Accountability Office usually begins investigations in response to specific requests from Congress, but the agency's head, Comptroller General David Walker, said the GAO acted on its own because of the many comments it received about ballot counting.

GAO officials said the investigation was not triggered by a request from several House Democrats, who wrote the agency this month seeking an investigation. The effort, led by senior Judiciary Committee Democrat John Conyers of Michigan, was not joined by any Republicans.

4. This is great news!

This gives us a "talking point" to ram at the MSM. No one can deny there were abundant machine malfunctions across the country. This is a dereliction on the part of the GAO and they seem to be blatantly reversing positions. We need to scream until someone listens. ASK: "what is our government hiding?"

7. The GAO is bi-partisan
At least they have been in the past, They have gone after accounting irregularities concerning both parties. I'd rather they WERE looking into this
