We Need To Face Reality
We put SO much effort into this campaign, so much energy. We are not going to win.

There is too much of a redneck factor in this country. We cannot win a presidential election without getting a decent amount of idiot vote. The last 2 democratic presidents have been southern guys. Unless the mindset of the nation changes, a northern democrat cannot win. Hillary in 2008 would be a fiasco.

People are scared of gays. They are scared of minorities. They think their morals should be legislated to everyone else in the country. Until their mindset evolves, we can't tell them their wrong. We can't point out the obvious hypocrisies. People don't want to hear it.
That's the nation we live in. I'm in law school and the more I learn, the more I realize how fucking stupid people are. We're right, but there's just not enough of us.

We will evolve eventually, but it might not be until we have a huge depression, or nuclear disaster or world war. Until we do, I'm gonna quit putting so much energy and faith in my fellow man and just make my way through this backwards country the best that I can.

I really do want to move from Oklahoma to some other state where I'm not completely surrounded by complete morons. Goodnight everybody.

25. Ya know
Ya know, here’s a radical idea, part of the reason these red necked elephant humping inbred idiots don’t listen to anything we say is that somehow they get the idea that we feel all superior and look down on them, stupid dumbfucks (or as Word’s™ spell check would have it, jumbucks). Demonizing your enemies is one thing but alienating people whose support you need to further your political objectives is foolish. A most favored quote and one that is apropos for the occasion, win or lose:

Why should we love our enemies"?

The first reason is fairly obvious. Returning hate for hate multiples hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.

Another reason why we must love our enemies is that hate scars the soul and distorts the personality. Mindful that hate is an evil and dangerous force, we too often think of what it does to the person hated. This is understandable, for hate brings irreparable damage to its victims.

But there is another side which we must never overlook. Hate is just as injurious to the person who hates. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true.

A third reason why we should love our enemies is that love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. We never get rid of an enemy by meeting hate with hate; we get rid of an enemy be getting rid of enmity. By its very nature, hate destroys and tears down; by its very nature, love creates and builds up. Love transforms with redemptive power.

-- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

7. I say we dissolve the democratic party and start over
if we can't win this election we will NEVER EVER EVER win another election. A cantaloupe that is against abortion could beat any one of our candidates for president. It's over. It's been an good run. Maybe try calling it the labor party or the populist party. I'm upset. I'm going to bed. Goodnight to anyone who happens to read this.

41. Gergen says the Democratic Party needs to move more to the center!
Then why did many call Kerry Bush-Lite?

I guess Democrats need to start wearing sheets, bashing blacks and gays, pushing prayer on folks everywhere, forcing women to abort in back alleys?

But think of it this way...

We know this election was rigged.

And Bush could STILL lose!

It's happening right now. Bush's lead is shrinking by 2000 votes a minute.

43. This election have once and for all confirmed the absolute
need for pro-liberal tv and media network that is unabashedly liberal in its programing like faux is unabashedly conservative. I am furious that no liberal rich-fellow came forward to put such a network in place to counter the brainwashing that took place prior and during the campaign for this election. We had to fight Fauxnews, Sinclair, PAX and the not-too-balanced main media. If we have to successfuly counter these outlets then we'll need more that AAR to do this job.

31. We have to remember ...
This election is but one battle in what will certainly be a long war, a war for the greatness, the future, and the dream that is America. If we truly love our country, we will never surrender.

I often think about the brave men who took up arms and fought against their government over 200 years ago so that they could make their dream of America a reality. They risked everything they had, and many gave their lives. In retrospect we look at them as heroes, but they were just ordinary people, like you and I. Ordinary people with an extraordinary dream, and the passion to make that dream come true.

If we are truly dedicated to the vision of freedom, justice, and liberty for all that America's founding fathers set forth, we must be willing to risk just as much as they did, fight just as hard as they, and sacrifice just as much as they did.

It will not be easy, but I believe that in the end good will always triumph over evil.

35. I have to agree, Americans suck
We are a nation of rednecks. No matter how sick, backwards and caveman-like some of these people's views may seem, we have to acknowledge them, they won't vote for someone like Kerry.
I'm at a loss, what do we do? I can tolerate someone like Clinton and apparently so could the majority of Americans, where do we get someone like him?

42. Time to clean house in the Democratic Party.
Let's be honest. The party failed us. The "regulars" chose Kerry because he seemed moderate and nice. He was so nice, he was unable to persuade a lot of people to cross the aisle and vote for him.

We needed a more angry candidate, one who would fight and face down Bush. One with passion, vision and a fighter's instinct. The party didn't give such a candidate to us.

If the worst comes to bear - and even if Kerry manages to pull out a victory - it's time for the passionate people who posted here to clean out the Democratic leadership and install some people who won't compromise and weasel.

I can't believe you people don't get it! Even after 2000 and everything the GOP has done since. Are you kidding me?

You have bought their illusion. So that's the reality you chose, apparently. You've conceded the perception battle to their propaganda machine.

Of course, maybe you guys are here tonight to perpetuate that reality. I wish DU would restore the post counts so we can at least get a feel for how many newbies are responding this way.
