Two articles in my local paper this AM
regarding 2004 election results in Florida. I've seen some of the reporting here already, but I just want to make sure that you all see them. One is about BBV.

Watchdog group focusing on optical scan voting

This is a bit about Bev finding the real records in the trash.

Researchers claim Florida e-vote problems

This about the Berkeley students finding 130,000-260,000 more votes than models predicted.

3. Just following up because...

People keep asking if the "260,000" number might mean a 520,000 vote shift for Kerry...

What the Berk report says is that they believe there is 130,000 "extra" votes for Bush. IF (they don't make a case for this hypothesis that I remember seeing) they were mis-counted Kerry votes instead of "ghost votes" (extra, unaccountable ballots), that means a 260,000 vote shift...so....no, the 260K is already accounting for shift and would not double the change.

Exact text...

-----------
The state-wide impact of these disparities due to electronic voting
amount to 130,000 votes if we assume a “ghost vote” mechanism and twice
that – 260,000 votes – if we assume that a vote misattributed to one
candidate should have been counted for the other.
