Polling Place on fire in my county NOW, on day before the election. Paperless iVotronics burned up.

VFW Fire Shuts Down Route 22 In Westmoreland
Fire Crews Battle Flames In Derry Township

DERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Traffic on Route 22 in Derry Township was at a near-standstill early Monday afternoon, as firefighters blocked off the road while they battled a fire.

A photo posted by a viewer on WTAE Channel 4 Action News' Facebook page shows smoke pouring out of the Blairsville VFW.

A woman told WTAE Channel 4 Action News' Jennifer Miele that she was cleaning the kitchen at about 9 a.m. when she heard a "pop" noise behind a cooler near the VFW's bar. She saw flames and smoke and fled the building immediately.

Miele reported that the building was to have been a polling place for the Pennsylvania primary on Tuesday. But voting machines were destroyed, and the polls will be moved about two miles away to the Long's homes, a modular home company.

Route 22 is closed to traffic in both directions in the area of the fire.

NOTES FROM demodonkey
This was to be a polling place tomorrow and yup, the voting machines were burned up. For my friends out of county and out of state, they were paperless ES&S iVotronics. RIP, iVotronics... we'll miss 'ya (not.)

Note: the county probably has spare machines, and the Judge of Elections for that precinct hopefully has the PEBs -- activation devices for the iVotronic containing the ballot styles for the precinct -- safely stored in his or her home. So the election will go on. I hope they vote for me! ;-) http://www.VoteKuznik.com

2. Good luck.
But I wouldn't mind if every one of those machines spontaneously burst into flames while God wrote HAND COUNT across the sky.

5. Well, it's a good start.
May every last one of these electro-fraud machines meet a similar fate. Before the election.

7. Holy crap. I had no idea this was going on.
(Of course I haven't had the news on, too busy answering robo calls).

Can anyone in Westmoreland County vote for you?

Good Luck tomorrow!

8. party officials on ballot?
interesting. In NC, party officials are elected at conventions.

Fascinating the way our 50 states are so unique.

Oh tooooo bad bout the iDontVotronics.

Sounds like your county will just get more. :(

10. It's only a matter of time before someone orders a source-code review...
...to see if that contributed to the meltdown.
