why are they giving this asshole a microphone?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ken-blackwell/hows-that-apology-thing-w_b_578011.html

isn't that why people read HuffPo - so they don't have to see rightwing horseshit written by an asshole who "helped deliver" ohio and we all know should be in prison ?

it's enough to make me want to get an account on HuffPo just so I can write nasty comments on his blog entries.

1. Even Fox allows a few liberals on. Liberal Radio hosts do it too
I think the idea being it makes us look less like we are unwilling to be open minded. I suppose it might actually get someone sitting on the fence some exposure to liberal ideas. As much as I hate to see their drivel, it is probably good to allow *a few* on.

3. Are you saying HuffPo needs to live up to the standards of Fox?
because that is ridiculous!

that's like saying that liberal commentators like Olbermann and Maddow are just as bad as Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Rielly, but just in the "opposite direction."

there is a difference. it's called the "pursuit of truth."

6. where did I say that?
Edited on Sun May-16-10 11:04 PM by Go2Peace
Ed Shultz does it, Thom Hartman does it, Norman Goldmann does it. I am not supporting FOX. Just saying it is not unusual to include in your format for a few reasons. I think generally liberal media trusts that their audience is fairly bright and won't get bamboozled by them. In fact, I sometimes wonder if the right wingers aren't being quite naive, I think the honestly believe they are going to win people over. Not going to happen with progressives. Unlike right wingers we actually think (usually) rather than just believe what someone might say on a show or periodical.

As you mentioned below, even Jon does it, and I don't think he is comparable to FOX.

9. yeah, we agree...
I just get annoyed anytime someone like that is given a microphone, and I don't think it needs to be done just in the name of being "fair and balanced."

if you have to interview lying assholes to be "fair and balanced" maybe it's better to just pursue the truth wherever it leads you and not worry about some kind of "obligation" to allow both "sides" to express their view. just MHO.

4. I agree! I like penjai's comment:
"I laughed out loud when Jon Stewart gave you a wedgie on national tv!!"

........

Ken Blackwell is a truly a sick person. I have NO respect for anything he might say for the rest of his life! What possessed Huffington Post in giving him a voice on their site is beyond me!
