Tano Tijerina has filed a lawsuit to block e-voting in the Webb Co TX runoff election. Balli was successful in blocking use of e-voting in Webb Co's Democratic primary. Avi Rubin on Taking back American Idol! The news is light today but we'll be back tomorrow.

1. The most important news in the USA, ever--the privatization of vote counting
with 'TRADE SECRET' code, now owned and controlled by one of the scariest rightwing corporations in the country, ES&S, which just bought out Diebold and has an 85% monopoly on our voting systems. And there are virtually no audit/recount controls anywhere. Half the states do no audit at all, to check on machine fraud; the other half do only a very inadequate 1% audit. This means that ES&S can (s)elect candidates to run for office in the primaries and put them in office in the general election, and combined with corrupt money and corrupt media, provides a bar to reform. Transparent vote counting--vote counting that anyone can observe and understand--is the bottom line of democracy. Without it, real reform is not possible. We MUST change this.
