Voting Problems Being Reported

I’ll update voter problems as we go……… you can report problems to 1-866-OUR-VOTE

* More reports of absentee voters not receiving their ballot in the mail from Florida, Colorado, Illinois and Louisiana voters.
* Indiana, Virginia and Pennsylvania – flyers and calls giving voters serious misinformation, like instructing people to vote on Wednesday
* Blacksburg, VA: Voters reporting that there are too few voting machines to handle the large crowds.
* Danville, VA: the relative of someone living in a nursing home reported evidence that nursing home residents who do not have family members present may have been intimidated and influenced while filling out absentee ballots.
* New Jersey: Voting rights experts report that voter registrations in at least twelve counties will not be processed by Election Day and voters from across the state may have to cast provisional ballots as a result.
* Mississippi: A caller reported that she collected 500 registrations and submitted all of them. She checked the status of several of them today and evidently none were processed.

VIRGINIA
Polling place problems are widespread across the state of Virginia. We’re hearing directly from over ten locations all across the state, including Richmond, Portsmouth, Lynchburg, Chesapeake, Vienna and Virginia Beach.

Some of the most common problems reported are long lines, which experts have expected. However, polling machines and ballot boxes are not functioning properly in several locations and some voters are reporting there have been no offers of paper ballots. Some polling places were not open as of 7am.

PENNSYLVANIA
We are receiving reports from multiple polling places in Philadelphia that voting machines are out of order or did not arrive at the location. This is causing long lines–we received one report that a line has reached more than 500 people.

If 50% or fewer of the voting machines are working, polling officials must provide paper ballots to voters. We are monitoring this trend and investigating each report.

OHIO
Election Protection has received reports from numerous polling locations in Columbus that are experiencing severe problems with voting machines, resulting in long lines. In some places, none of the machines are working.

FLORIDA
Developing story: Tallahassee voters show up to polls, only to find ballots are missing.=

1. thanks for keeping us posted on this! kickee...
btw -- my polling place had some sort of computer glitch, but it was likely related to the Supervisor of Elections network and not the actual voting. the database workers were using to help people navigate the "no match" law (change of address, etc) went down. hopefully it's no big, but i noticed a few IT guys in panic mode.

2. Casting votes is just the first weak link in the chain.
WE MUST find a way to collectively INSIST that county officials in PA, VA, NC and OH call in their results to the central state division. It has been well documented that the results can be intercepted and tampered with between the county election site and the central state election site. This is what happened in Ohio 2004. (Google: Stephen Spoonamore Paper Ballots Please)

Trust me, this is why McCain is so confident that he can still win PA and other battleground states.

Does anyone know how to make the demand that county results be called-in a part of TODAY's national media conversation? Tomorrow is too late...
