this is not exactly new, but I was going over it and it needs more attention.

Thank you for posting this, Gary. I get so angry at Carl Levin when he sends me replies stating the Michigan vote is safe because we have optican scan systems. Uh huh - ES&S M100's.

you came to the right place.
in vermont we have all opscan so I've been fighting this fight for 4 years. I can help you.

to start, this is our basic flyer that introduces people to the concept that the opscans are also problematic:

I could help you adapt it to your state if you think it would be helpful.

It may be why McCain left the state so early. I hope I'm dead wrong.

Carl Levin was the MI Senator who served on the committee that chose the Michigan equipment. I have written repeatedly with reasons optical scan equipment is not safe and how easily the voting machines can be manipulated, but always get the standard form reply (HAVA great, we have new equipment, we're optical scan statewide so Michigan vote is safe, yada yada). I'm also in a fundie-filled, very Red area of the state with little local support for the idea of election fraud (think Amway & Blackwater). We'll see if the issue comes to a head in a few weeks. I have guarded optimism we'll squeak by, but the worst outcome would not surprise me.

6. appeal to the public first
there's got to be a group in MI working on election integrity, although I can't find one at the moment. are you in touch with a group? you need a group... if you don't have one in MI, start one. that's what I did here in VT. it's taken a while, but the SoS used to ignore us, then she made fun of us, and now she's taking notice. we forced her to do an audit 2 years ago. every time we put out a press release she gets letters. you can make a difference. if you can't find a group in MI, start one. all you need is a website.

8. State election integrity sites

For anyone else in Michigan it's here:

Here is a list of organizations in all states:

Thanks for pushing me to action, Gary. I'm so busy trying to keep two businesses afloat in *world that I've put this on the back burner, and another possible steal is upon us. The recent Rethug media coverage about ACORN and voter fraud has me furious again. If only we could get a portion of that concern for election fraud.

2. On a second attempt, the totals were wrong again, but different from the first totals.
They've had how many years to fix these problems?

7. Thanks for bringing this back up. It HAS TO GET COVERAGE. Otherwise we're screwed.
Look at all the registration problems cropping up right now, less than three weeks before the election.

Rove and Co. are setting this up AGAIN.

I cannot believe how stupid the Democratic Leadership is about this issue. It's like they are the three monkeys: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
