A Plea to All: Please do NOT Turn This Forum into GD-P
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 03:57 PM by K Gardner
This is the first sanity I've seen in weeks out of Democratic Underground. GD-P and to an extent GD, have become cesspools. ER is over here in its own forum, not bothering anybody, not making political partisan arguments. ER has been here for a long time and the people here have worked diligently, putting in years of research and on the ground lobbying for legislation to help us ALL get transparency and truth in our election process.

People here spend time doing spreadsheets, not spreading rumor and innuendo.

Now, I see people over here from GD-P - and you know who you are - making inflammatory and baseless comments that this is about Hillary/Obama and attacking the true election reformers on this board.

I'm begging.. please, if you cannot contribute to the logical arguments and points that need to be made here; if you can't do anything but point fingers and bicker about motive and candidates, then please do it in GD-P. Don't dilute this wonderful forum and the people who have worked so hard over the years to make it so. Please.

2. Bravo... what amazes me is how election reform and transparency
truly scares the real partisans. That alone, at least in my mind, raises way, and I mean WAAYYYY too many questions. Chief among them is WHY?

5. It is one of the main reasons DU exists isn't it?

14. Back then, I was off on my own crusade and didn't know that
DU really existed. I spent a lot of time writing and researching and documenting, something that consumed my life for nearly a year. Got crushed again in 2004 and just don't want to see it happen again. Glad to have finally found an online community, even if the family is a bit Dysfunctional right now :-)

24. It's predictable...
If a person's favorite candidate wins, they usually don't want the results scrutinized. Period.

Right now it's the Hillary crowd screaming and diverting and doing everything in their power to avoid the issue, but I bet if the tables were turned, the Obama crowd would probably be doing the same thing.

We don't want our candidate to lose. We are often willing to become blinded to potential fraud if it works in our favor, forgetting that it can very easily be used against us the next time.

9. I'm new too and neither will I :-) I've actually seen you over on the other boards trying
to put forth facts and logic, and you do it very well. Doesn't work tho, does it. LOL? :dilemma:

See, we're better off over here. Nice to make your acquaintance, BTW. :hi:

8. Maybe we should use all use the same phrase to warn off newbies.
Like:

ELECTION REFORM HERE, CANDIDATES IN GD-P.

SFExpat is doing something like that, and it's helping.

Anyway, I too am enjoying the atmosphere in ER -- more than I've enjoyed DU in while.

11. Part of the problem is that threads were being switched from
the mud wrassling forums to this forum and posters were sort of caught off guard.

It will settle down.

Welcome to ER, all you new guys. Enjoy.

16. You're right. The "You're only saying that cuz your guy lost" posts are down.
So, definitely, welcome new folks.

Bring your spreadsheets and slide-rules and search engines.

Take the red pill ("Matrix" reference).

19. Did you read the post? I don't have a "beef".. except for the people from
GD-P turning this into a slugfest instead of a research forum. Sorry if you misunderstood :-)

26. excuse me, i did read the post.
it was a slugfest before skinner moved it here, and i expect it will remain so. if that is the case i truly suggest you address the problem to skinner, not to us sluggers.

23. I posted some volatile things, but...
I posted them in GD, then the mods moved them here. And so the barroom fights got transported into this here saloon, but it wasn't my fault! :)

25. ROFL !! I'm sure the ER Papal Authority will grant absolution for ANYTHING started in
GD or GD-P and, through no fault of our own, teleported into a *real* forum. Too funny. If they transported any of my crap from there to here I'd be eatin' crow big time :-) :hide:
