I don't care who gets the Democratic nomination, not really.

I'm much more concerned about the election. About the voter roll purges and the vote caging and all the other neat tricks they will pull.

Maybe it's hard to get worked up about what could end up being theater, expensive theater.

I was talking to one of my friends that helped me and Andy through, as much as we could be helped. And we were both remembering how people didn't believe it when we said the right wing was after Andy. But they were and they did attack him, just as surely as if they'd driven a stake through his heart.

Andy was effective. And he walked right into the web of criminality that was gearing up to bring us what we now take for the status quo. With his charming smile and his humor and his intelligence and his energy and the way he could curl people right around his little finger. No wonder there was such a backlash against his wellbeing.

I really don't care who gets this nomination, not really. But I do care, very much, about this election. There may be very little I can do. But I swear on my kids' heads, if all I can do is help people verify their voter reg, I'll do THAT. If all I can do is cheerlead, I'll do THAT. Whatever. I don't even care what the task is. Cold calling media types, walking, writing, it just doesn't matter. I'll do THAT.

I'm not ready to let them steal it again. And, I'm not sure they can't.

10. Many of us feel the same way. So many great candidates, all better than *.
We'll be much better off with any one of them in office. And, when that nominee is finally decided, we need to work like h*ll to get him/her elected.

Cheers! Happy New Year!

13. Our nominee will be elected. The point is we'll need to work like hell
to get them seated because the mofos will certainly try to steal it AGAIN.

5. They WILL try to steal AGAIN.
We know that. That's all.

What are we willing to do?

We have a year to stop them.

6. I have come to terms with the fact that nothing has changed since the last two stolen elections.
The powers-that-be will not give up their rule because NO ONE is holding them accountable. Talk is cheap, our candidates say the "want change" but they do nothing to bring change.

8. Let's back up. Imho, something has changed.
WE have so much more information.

WE have the benefit of dedicated activists who have fought to build infrastructure for election reform.

No, the politicians won't take this up. Fine. WE have each other, the net, a mountain of good work and foresight. That's something.

22. We protest in the streets and no one hears about it.
There are lawsuits trying to correct wrongs and the media talks about Britney. Our democratic leaders have hung us out to dry.

...The election take over has started to happen already. DK and Ron Paul are already being pushed out.

However, done with the arguments here on this.

Agree with you, no matter who, no more stolen elections, no more neo-cons or Rwers.

According to ABC News, the Democratic candidates are on a pace to set a record for caucus turnout. The GOP, on the other hand, is poised to have its worst showing this year. There is no candidate they can really agree on as they all come fraught with "problems" like Romney's former and Giuliani's current support for women's choice, Huckabee's Arkansas tax hikes and Grandpa Fred's problem of being completely uninspiring.

They have set out to steal votes via bigger and better voter suppression.

If we allow ourselves to overlook this, we're making a mistake.

24. You are, without a doubt, correct.
They are already putting their voter-suppression and vote-stealing plans to work. The only way to counter it may be to nominate a candidate that won't self-destruct in the general election. We need enough votes to make it too obvious that the Repubs are stealing it again. If it's too close, the Republicans will take the White House.

28. It's hard to believe it was even close last time.
But, I see what you're saying.

The Republicans are helping out with their three perfectly horrendous candidates that no one like. I only hope Bloomberg jumps in because he'll split the already disgruntled vote.

19. With our elections turned into a rigged carnival game,
we shouldn't be distracted even if our next throw is a winner.

If we can't fix the system, and restore the rule of law, any victory is a mere shiny bauble meant to fascinate us into thinking that we're winners, when in fact we're the designated suckers.

Recommended.

23. Doesn't matter to me either,
I just want the Democrat to be President.

Ohio elected a Democratic governor and a Democratic Senator in 2006. Surely, Ohio and the rest of the states can elect a Democratic President in 2008!

29. Isn't it harder to steal Ohio alone than a national election?
Federal elections would seem to give the cheats so many more places to hide their fraud.

(Still grateful for Ohio! :) )
