Can Somebody Please Post a Funding Update?
Alliance For Democracy was just now on Laura Flanders (AAR); says they are raising funds for the ($110,000) filing fees for the OH recount... also aren't the Greens and Libs are collecting for OH? Anybody know how they are doing?

Nader is still collecting for NH? Is he close?

Any word on FL, and who might need ($) help there??

2. I sent money directly to Cobb
http://web.greens.org/c/cobb/supporters.cgi?function=donate

Is Alliance for Democracy working with Cobb and the Greens or are they attempting a separate recount? They don't mention the Cobb/Green effort on their site, or did I miss it?

7. i thought afd needed a presidential candidate to call for a recount
and both cobb and badnarik had agreed
why would they be raising the money seperately?

(and isn't it ironic that kerry spent over a million dollars a day on advertising in ohio for weeks - and now we have to put it together in $50 donations to raise a paltry $110,000 to actually count the vote?
there's a lovely symetry in this election season - first we created a dean campaign with $50 donations and now we're forcing democracy with $50 donations! and btw where the hell is george soros or bruce springsteen or michael moore right now? why isn't mm shaving off $100,000 from fahrenheit 911 profits to fund this? - but of course this is waaaaaaay better if its funded this way i know - i love you all!)

8. Everybody raising money now
Once the evidence is there that people will contribute, you should expect everybody under the sun to ask for the money. Only candidates with standing can fund the recount, and the Cobb fundraising effort is close to getting there. We have not received any funds from the AfD effort. We have been contacted by some of these groups (not including AfD as far as I know), but no money transfers yet from anybody.

Most of the other groups raising money are using more general pitches, such as supporting efforts to identify problems. If they say they are raising money specifically to pay for a recount, then ask them where and who they are giving it to. And there are recount-support projects that they could pay for.

So far, we are only raising for a recount in Ohio, but are considering branching out to other states if the support is there. Maybe there are states where non-candidates can call for recounts, but I would be surprised.

One last thing. The Cobb campaign finished the campaign season in the black. We have no debts to retire with your generous contributions. :)

10. ?
What about the money we gave to the DNC & Kerry campaign for just this purpose? Why are we having to scrape for money now when we have prepared for this in advance?

11. Exactly. All those lawyers better actually be doing something
for all of their billable hours, not just sitting in some fancy restuarant discussing it among themselves.
