Senator Wants Probe Into Fla. Election

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Wednesday called for an investigation into the electronic touch-screen voting machines used in a disputed congressional race in Florida.

Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Rules Committee, said that problems with the machines in last year's elections were most serious in the Sarasota area district, where about 18,000 ballots cast on the touch-screen machines didn't record a vote for Congress.

"At this time, officials have been unable to account for what happened to these votes because there is no independent record," said Feinstein, D-Calif.

The voting machines did not leave paper records of the results between Democratic candidate Christine Jennings and Republican Vern Buchanan.

Jennings contends the machines lost the votes and is challenging the 369-vote victory by Buchanan in the race to succeed former Rep. Katherine Harris. Jennings has filed a lawsuit in state court and a complaint with Congress. The House has seated Buchanan pending the outcome of the challenge.

1. K&R. One of these scandals is going to bring down the DREs.
We have to keep kicking them, even more so now that they're down. Kick smash bludgeon. Shock and Awe.

2. New Governor Charlie Crist has already said that paperless machines
Are being discontinued.

It's a crying shame that it took a newly elected Republic to do it. We tried to tell FDP Chair Karen Thurman to work on this almost 2 years ago, and she completely ignored us.

I think half the blame falls on her. If she had acted, maybe this fiasco could have been prevented.

3. Next Investigation will have to be ...
into the entire HAVA process from proposal to final implementation. When we have election officials on camera discussing the 5-figure checks the vendors were cutting to political parties if their product was purchased, I would say democracy was undermined by corruption. At some point, all those who lined their pockets in the HAVA arena will need to be outed.

Was the HAVA a get rich quick con from Day 1?

12. Hey, consider yourself lucky that at least someone cares down there.
Here in Georgia, the 3rd and final stage of Operation Screw Georgia Democrats is now complete and now, for "...the first time since Reconstruction..." the GOP has taken complete control of all of Georgia's Government, and we haven't had a single auditable election since 2000, when we were sold out by Democrat Secretary of State Cathy Cox and the Diebold Corp. in 2002.

And all I ever get here is A-holes who just think the people of Georgia are just stupid and/or GOP loving clones, instead of seeing this opposite trend for what it is, total e-voting election fraud.

5. I want an investigation into the 2000 election
particularly in Florida that was instrumental in depriving Al Gore of the office he rightfully won.

17. What will really blow this out of the water
is when the investigations turn to the winners of elections won while using corrupt machines.

Once the hacking becomes known, the next question has to be, who knew. How far up the food chain will it go?
