While you were away from your desk - McPherson certified Hart/Intercivic
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 02:26 PM by Wilms
Both the eScan OpScanner, and the eSlate DRE.

I guess we need to assign someone to watch the SoS website on Friday afternoons. Here's the latest week ending news dump.

It's a pdf.

The Staff Report had recommended against the certification of the eScan while endorsing the eSlate.

Another pdf.

I'm mixed about the eScan. The failures may not have been that awful. Many seemed of the paper jam sort, and I think I prefer a jamming scanner to a DRE.

No matter. They're both in.

1. Correction.
Sorry. I got it wrong.

Though the certificate title states, "Approval of Use of Hart/Intercivic System 6.1 DRE and Optical Scan Voting System", it goes on to say, "The eScan, version 1.2.0, is specifically excluded from this certification and may not be used in California."

Sorry.

2. Is this same system with extra 100,000 votes last week in a Texas county?
If so, Uggh.

5. Relief for no OpScan, but they OK'd the TouchScreen, Rumpel.
I think a few counties want it.

And it did poorly, as most did, in the Volume Testing.

It deserves discussion.
