14. Anti-Government means they are against a gov by the people, for the people
They are fascists in every sense of the word. The Control business to suit their own needs, (UAE Port deal) Military Industrial complex. They rule all branches of government as a result of a coup 2000, 2002, 2004 selections (Diebold). They impede freedom as it, if let rung, would end them up in jail. The are total masters of propaganda and media manipulation as was the third reich and the soviet totalitarians. The are in it not so much for the money, but more for the power. Money gets you close to power, but government - real big fascist GOP government is power.

Republican fascist dictators - I love my freedom and I will fight you til I'm dead to save it!

"Just who is the Council for National Policy, and why aren't they paying taxes?"

by Sarah Posner, Contributor

http://gadflyer.com/articles/?ArticleID=260

<snip>

CNP was founded in 1981 by Tim LaHaye, the right-wing, evangelical political motivator and author of the "Left Behind" serial, which chronicles a fictional Armageddon and second coming (in which the non-believers are left behind while believers are carried off in a rapturous moment without their clothes. It gives an eerie ring to the No Child Left Behind Act.) LaHaye's empire includes his fingerprints on a number of evangelically-oriented, right-wing political action groups, his wife Beverly's Concerned Women for America, along with the twelve "Left Behind" novels, which, according to the author's own website, have sold 55 million copies world wide since their introduction in 1995.

The original directors, as listed with CNP's articles of incorporation filed with the Texas Secretary of State in 1981 were, along with LaHaye, Howard Phillips, a long-time conservative activist with plenty of conservative groups under his wing, and Bob J. Perry, a Texas businessman who has long donated vast amounts of money to conservative causes, including the tort reform effort in Texas. Last year, Perry gave over $8 million to conservative 527 groups, including $4.5 million to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and $3 million to the Progress for America Voter Fund, which spent over $35 million running pro-Bush and anti-Kerry ads during the campaign and is now backing Bush's Social Security privatization.

Today, CNP's Board and roster of known members is a who's who of the radical right, and a sampling includes former Reagan cabinet member Donald Hodel, also President of James Dobson's Focus on the Family; Heritage Foundation President Edwin Feulner, who has served on CNP's board, as have Grover Norquist, President of the anti-tax group Americans for Tax Reform and Paul Weyrich, President of the Free Congress Foundation; Holly Coors; T. Kenneth Cribb, President of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute; and Brent Bozell, President of the Media Research Council, which provides a media network through which it disseminates radical conservative ideology and propaganda.

11. WHY is this politically partisan organization TAX-FRIGGING-EXEMPT?!?!???
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 12:07 AM by Nothing Without Hope
Excerpt from the dKos story in the opening post:

(snip)

A little internet digging (mostly facilitated by a post from February 2005 right here on Daily Kos, "Sith Lords of the Ultra-Right" brought out a lot about "The Council for National Policy".

The CNP was founded in 1981 as an umbrella organization of right-wing leaders who would gather regularly to plot strategy, share ideas and fund causes and candidates to advance the far-right agenda. Twenty-five years later, it is still secretly pursuing those goals with amazing success.

Since its founding, the tax-exempt organization has been meeting three times a year. Members have come and gone, but all share something in common: They are powerful figures, drawn from both the Religious Right and the anti-government, anti-tax wing of the ultra-conservative movement.

It may sound like a far-left conspiracy theory, but the CNP is all too real and, its critics would argue, all too influential.

12. Don't forget the Abramoff gang
Jack Abramoff
Grover Norquist
Ralph Reed

A lot of people involved with aid to the Contras were also members, not least among them Ollie North.

The CNP wasn't just about one faction of the right -- it was sort of an omnium-gatherum, pulling in most of the active components in the 80's and early 90's. Definitely an unsavory bunch.

29. They are 'anti-Constitution!! According to the information in the Kos
diary, they want to 'replace the Constitution with a government based on theocracy'. I'm paraphrasing, I forgot to copy and paste the quote.

I know now where all this 'anti-constitution' stuff has been coming from ~ and it becomes more believable that Bush called the Constitution 'just a piece of paper'. I read that there are groups emerging in colleges who are claiming that the Constitution is outdated now and needs to be abolished.

The best way to deal with their little secret society is to shine some very bright lights on all of them, and report them to the IRS.

The CNP, citing its bylaws that restrict access to speeches, declined. So did the Bush campaign, citing the CNP.

Wouldn't this violate their tax-exempt status? Aren't non-profits obliged to have their books, practices etc. open to the public?

Maybe a FOIA is in order to expose their whole little organization ~ and maybe groups like Judicial Watch, the ACLU etc. should be mailed all this information ~ I am so sick of these people who are secretly attempting to overthrow this government ~

All elected officials take an oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the US. One of this group's stated goals is to abolish the Constituion!! No wonder they admonish their members not to even mention their name. They are a subversive group and they KNOW IT, most likely acting illegally, perhaps treasonously.

Blackwell should be inundated with demands to explain his association with this group ~ and I would not be at all surprised if they are involved in election fraud.

Mailing out to lists ~

23. The CNP orchestrates gay marriage/adoption bans nationwide
The same players involved in CNP are the same ones strategizing and organizing all state gay marriage/adoption ban referendums, carefully selecting which states to attack and when. They use the same techniques in their play book for each state. The faces change, but everything else stays the same -- the questionable PACs, the questionable petition-gathering techniques and the questionable promotions in churches. Then it's all Diebolded in and the GOP hails, "The majority of Americans are against gays!"

Phil Burress, who was behind the gay marriage ban referendum in Ohio in November 2004, is a member in good standing of the CNP. He's the porn addict who can't trust himself to look at porn anymore, so he relies on his wife to do it for him as part of their "ministry work."

35. Freepress article:
Why did J. Kenneth Blackwell seek, then hide, his association with super-rich extremists and e-voting magnates?
by Bob Fitrakis and Harvey Wasserman
March 10, 2006

The man who stole the 2004 election for George W. Bush -- Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell -- has posted a picture of himself addressing the white supremacist ultra-right Council for National Policy (CNP). He then pulled the picture and tried to hide his participation in the meeting by removing mention of it from his website, kenblackwell.com.

First discovered by a netroots investigator, Blackwell's photo at the CNP meeting was found on Blackwell's website on Monday, March 6. Then it mysteriously disappeared.

Blackwell has ample reason to hide his ties to the CNP. When the Free Press investigated the CNP and its ties to the Republican Party, Chip Berlet of Political Research Associates told the paper that the CNP included "a former Ku Klux Klan leader and other segregationist policies." Berlet emphasizes that these "shocking" charges are easy to verify.

Berlet describes CNP members as not only traditional conservatives, but also nativists, xenophobes, white racial supremacists, homophobes, sexists, militarists, authoritarians, reactionaries and "in some cases outright neo-fascists."
