Coup d'etat Redux in Ohio!
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 03:33 PM by Einsteinia
Most of us are already aware of this from the Fitrakis article last week, but for our friends who are not so up to speed on these issues, I just saw this great summation with links on the Dailykos. Here's what I sent my lists:

The crime of the century is about to take place, and are you even aware of it?

or http://tinyurl.com/8ezar////////

Now of course, we need an action alert to follow. I've seen a couple in the works, but we need one for the general public who have no idea what's going down--and fast!

3. WHY CAN'T SOMEONE JUST MAKE UP THE VOTE ON PAPER
and have reps at all sites making sure they fill that out exactly as they did with the electronic machines also and then stick their fingers in ink?

It doesn't sound like such a hard thing to do. It is a paper trail. Who the Hell says the PEOPLE can't create their own paper trail and why do we need anyone's fucking permission????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

11. Because the people who currently control the vote, DON"T want to
relinquish power. Not only will they be out of a job but will another party in control, there will be subpoena's and investigations and JAIL TIME!

I am working with a group that wants to get a HCPB initiative on the ballot in Ohio next November, but little support from either party!

14. Fuck the subpoenas. What are they going to do if every person
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 03:14 PM by Maraya1969
who comes out of the voting building is asked to sign a paper that they have checked with who they voted for. You have to stay a certain number of feet away from the voting booth but it might work. At least it will send a message.

How is someone going to argue with you when you just want everyone to SIGN their exit polls and everyone to participate?

15. We do this, it is called Parallel elections. We have limited # of
volunteers, so certain precincts are chosen. Of course there are a lot of people who do not wish to participate. Move-On even tried to do this during the '04 election in Columbus OH. I worked for the Kerry Campaign and met the woman from CA who held it at my precinct. She offered gourmet candies and had little success.

12. That is an excellent question and suggestion.
Every Democrat, Independent, and, if they want, Republican should empower themselves to do a parallel audit on the next election. Have some neutral group like the League of Women Voters conduct it.

Secret ballots are being used against us today. Since we can't trust the Republican owned machines to count the ballots fairly, we need to conduct a parallel election to validate the results.

4. Give Bushite criminals an inch, and they'll take ten miles! This is a
lesson that our Dem Pary leadership has not learned. They failed to loudly object to Bushite corporations taking over our election system with "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY software and firmware, and virtually no audit/recount controls when it first began; failed to warn voters about it in 2002 and 2004; failed to get it corrected; failed to curb corruption in Dem Party ranks at the state/local election official level; failed to back Calif Dem Sec of State Kevin Shelley after he sued Diebold's ass and demanded to see their source code; failed to fire Dem county elections head Connie McCormack who led the vicious, unwarranted campaign against Shelley, and whose best friend is the former chief salesperson for Diebold in Calif; they let Ohio go by without protest, the most disgusting violations of black citizens' rights that have occurred since the poll tax and lynching...and so...

Recently, in Ohio, four Ohio ELECTION REFORM initiatives, that were predicted to win by 60/40 votes, were flipped over on election day to 60/40 LOSSES--the most audacious flipover yet. (The machines and their masters are now dictating election policy and preventing reform--a chilling Orwellian twist.)

See Bob Koehler's article about the Ohio initiatives:
http://www.tmsfeatures.com/tmsfeatures/subcategory.jsp?custid=67&catid=1824

They are not even trying to HIDE their putrid theft of elections any more. And now this...

They use their illegitimately obtained majority to FORBID scrutiny of their election theft machines, to CRIMINALIZE voter registration drives, to OUTLAW any challenge of any federal election, and to BAR as many black and poor voters from voting as they can.

Maybe hubris will get them. I hope so. Because what we are seeing is TYRANNY of the Stalinist variety. Not just high-handedness. Not just corruption. TYRANNY!

It was Josef Stalin who said, "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide
everything."

The Bushites' playbook was written by Josef Stalin!

9. P.S. responding to Maraya1969. Quite right, we need VERIFICATION
tools.

1. We need the Dem Party (or someone!) to fund INDEPENDENT exit polls in '06 and '08. (The ones we got on election night in 2004 were DOCTORED to FIT the results of Diebold's and ES&S's secret vote tabulation formulae, which hid strong evidence of a Kerry win from the American people. And the pollster who did it--Edison/Mitofsky--has promised that we will never get to see their REAL exit poll results again.) Write to Dean! Independent exit polls a must!

2. We need extensive statistical monitoring of the '06 elections (see www.UScountvotes.org), and other such tools, for instance, "parallel elections," to gather evidence, and build momentum for fundamental election reform. USCountVotes, who is set up to do the statistical work, needs donations. They are now tax-exempt. Support them!

3. We need to strongly support all election fraud protests--for instance, the hunger striker in Ohio.

4. Sign and promote Russ Holt's petition for HR 550, which has 169 co-sponsors in the House, and which will stop the corporate privatization of our elections in its tracks, and reverse it. http://www.rushholt.com/petition.html. Tell Howard Dean and other Dems they should be backing this bill vociferously, and talking about it every day.

5. Spread the word to whatever honest election officials we still have, and to all citizens, that HAVA does NOT mandate electronic voting--we still have a choice! That is one of the myths exposed in "MythBreakers," an easy to read pamphlet on the perils of electronic voting. www.votersunite.org.

6. Tune into Ring of Fire next week, Robt. Kennedy Jr.'s Air America show, for a strong presentation on 2004 election fraud (guest Harvey Wasserman), next Sat. Dec. 17, 5-7 pm (ET), rebroadcast Sun. Dec. 18, 3-5 pm (ET). CALL IN! (--if permitted; dunno). Get it on tape. Spread it around.

7. Somebody has GOT to get MICHAEL MOORE to dump Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW! --in the spirit of Samuel Adams and Tom Paine! It's time!

NO WAR, NO "PROJECTS FOR A NEW AMERICAN CENTURY," NO SUPREME COURT NOMINATIONS, NO BANKRUPTCY BILLS, NO MILITARY BUDGETS, AND NO MORE TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!

10. Bob Fitrakis is doing the work of our Dem Party leadership and
filling in that great big black hole that they left in our hearts when they promised, repeatedly--even on election night itself, begging for contributions--that they would insure that "every vote would be counted."

I am a loyal Dem Party voter and supporter, for 40 years! (My first campaign was for JFK when I was 16!) And I have no interest in creating --and am very wary of--the kind of left/center fracture that developed in Germany in the early 1930s, and paved for the way for Hitler's rise.

But that does NOT mean that I cannot appreciate what the Greens did in the last election--with the vast majority of Greens and former Nader voters voting for Kerry. They carried the ball for the Democratic grass roots! They, and they alone, spoke for the majority who wanted Bush ousted and his goddamn war ended, and whose will was thwarted by election fraud.

If the Ohio Dem Party leadership can't deal with this, cannot roll back the most egregious and tyrannical power grab over elections that has ever occurred in this country, then they need to be replaced! And the same is true of our national leadership on our election system countrywide. That is their FUNDAMENTAL responsibility--to protect our right to vote. They have failed on a colossal scale to do so. And it remains to be seen whether or not they are capable of RESTORING the most basic premise of democracy: transparent elections. Restoring it. Because they lost it for us three years ago with falsely named "Help America Vote Act."

If not, then we DO need a new party! And the Greens could be the basis of it. I'm not willing to go that route yet, because of the grave historical precedent of how Hitler came to power. Things could get worse--a whole lot worse--and unified action by representatives of the majority is essential to throwing this fascist coup out of our government, preventing worse from happening, and restoring order, so that serious reform can take place.

We make a very serious mistake if we view the current situation of our country as "politics as usual." It is not.

16. Thank you PP for your words of wisdom. A friend from DU pm-ed me
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 04:06 PM by mod mom
after I posted Bob's run for governor with full support, suggesting I might be tombstoned. I had to laugh, because no one worked harder at getting Kerry elected than I did (you can ask my family ;)) and I have been a straight Democratic party loyal voter as well, but when they failed to deliver on their promise to make sure every vote would be counted, when they failed to review the evidence put forward by the election reform community and patriots like Bob, when my own county Dem chair goes on record calling us "CONSPIRACY THEORISTS" for suggesting that the election was not fair, when my state party refuses to address the PURGES which adversely effected the Democratic vote that occurred in the hands of Kenneth Blackwell, then I believe it is time to change the party or change parties.

STANDING UP IN SUPPORT OF YOUR BASE SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED OUTSIDE THE PARTY!

Here at DU, we are appalled that Republicans march LOCKSTEP with *, so we should feel equally appalled with Dems who march lockstep with the Democratic Party! I am a progressive first, and a democratic second. This occurred @ about 1pm on Nov 3rd-Kerry's Concession Speech!
